When does it become just too many damn books?
I got a call last night from a local church which had their first annual used book sale the past 2 weekends. They needed their space back ASAp and wanted to get rid of the books. She told me thay had about 5-600 books left over, and we worked out a good deal for all of them. When I got there today to look at them, there were actually closer to 3000. Yes, that's right. I bought 3000 more books.

I think I need help... :silly:

or a bigger store.

So, anyone have a solution? Books Anonymous? Self Help?

 Guess how many I will keep for myself

31. Amazon.com will store and ship your books for you.
http://www.amazonservices.com/fulfillment/

They charge a storage fee (a few cents per month for a certain amount of space) and small handling fee (fifty cents to a dollar when the item ships). The customer deals with Amazon as to shipping and returns.

Not sure if that will work for you, but it might be useful for things you know will sell quickly.

38. fyi Amazon particularly sucks in one regard
or possibly I just haven't figured out how to do it -- but can't do an exact title or author search on a specific seller's page, they make you go through alphabetically. Oftentimes when I'm ordering more than one used book on Amazon I'd like to combine shipping but it's not worth the huge effort to do the search on the same seller storefront.

39. With all the books we have, we ought to start a bookstore ourselves
I just traded in a trunkful of them for store credit at the local used bookshop, and there are STILL six bookcases full, plus two storage tubs, plus a big cardboard box. They're overflowing the living room and the bedroom.

My name is Brandy, and I'm a literary addict. *raises hand*

43. once when i was living in new york -- i got asked out on a date by this cute nerdy guy.
i got to his east side apartment -- i thought i was moving up in the world -- and he had so many books they were stacked in front of his windows -- you could not see out.

they lined his hallways -- the place had this musty papery smell that i can vividly recall to this day.

there was no space that wasn't covered by books.

now i don't know if that was too many -- but it left an indelible impression on me.

i then proceeded to leave an indelible impression on him.

45. Friends of the Library
I hit the "Friends of the Library" book sales at all the local public libraries for used books. I have maybe 2000 so far. But I go in spells. Sometimes I will go to different libraries every weekend for a couple months then not at all for a few months. Its like a treasure hunt, you never know what you will find. I got a reviewers copy of a fantasy novel that is worth about $500. Right now I have 4 large bookcases full and still need at least one more for the pile of books against one wall in my living room, lol.
