"You know, one of my fondest memories is of the tour Jim and I took to New York City after our 35th anniversary. And the highlight of that tour was a trip to the Statue of Liberty. Anyway, I pass by Ms. Liberty once a week or so, and the thought already occured to me that we should send her back to France-- where she'll be appreciated.

Not only has the Supreme Court declared that she is actually in <gasp> New Jersey waters, but you now can't get within a kilometer of her without swearing a loyalty oath, 6 forms of identification, a background check, and a cavity search. The Coast Guard has standing orders to intercept any boats nearing her. I think they sink you if there's an Orange Alert. God help you if you have a camera.

Every time I see her, I could swear she looks just a little bit more disappointed.

Or is she finally just homesick?

I laughed. Then I looked on in horror, because I can actually envision this as reality. Then I laughed harder, because it's too well done.

So well done that those parodied don't "get" it when they find it.
