I heard there are actually people who are so insane as to live in this place. They may as well be living on the Moon.

4. Seriously. My girlfriend tells me the industry up there is ice.
The people that live there go into the freezers to warm up.

8. Are you sure that is without windchill?
if so that would absoluetly shatter the all time North American record
of -81F. I think the wind chill is included in that -114F figure.

10. --114 ? I find that hard to believe.
I just left New Hampshire for the warmer climes of South Carolina, but I can't believe its 114 below, even on Mt. Washington. According to weather.com, its a balmy -28, and even when you do factor in windchill, then its only -78. Where do you get your -114 degre figure?

12. Saw it on CNN's weather about an hour ago.
I think it was actually with the windchill, though, and it's gone down to -84 since then.

14. Mars had a high of 11- five degrees warmer than Boston - but gets cold at
night to below -100.

But I think New England is a good spot to get ready for a
Mars trip!

15. I visited the weather station once up at Mount Washington
It was summer though :)

When I worked at a NH radio station back in the 80's (WMWV), we talked to the people on Mt. Washington each morning for the weather...so, they invited the morning DJ & myself (who did news) to come up and check it out...

It's like a fortress up there...it may be minus 100, but they've got total protection from the elements (as long as they stay inside!!!).

oilmen in Siberia learned that the hard way.
