6. Canda doesn't have much soul
It's a fine country but are there any great Canadian blues singers? No.

That's because you people are too damned nice. Sometimes some conflict and turmoil is healthy, as long as it doesn't overwhelm you.

answers
"1. Who is your favourite singer?"
Don't really know. Maybe Roger Daltry? Sometimes it's Sarah Brightman. Sometimes it's Bill Monroe. Some folks like the summertime when they can walk around....

"2. Who is your favourite author?"
Right now it's Richard Dawkins. All time? Toss up between Ray Bradbury and Carl Sagan.

"3. Which country would you like to visit if you had the opportunity to do so?"
Greece

"4. Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them."
I don't have pets.

"5. What is your opinion of Canada?"
Can you be a little more specific? Hard to put one adjective on an entire nation. Everything I know about Canada I learned watching the Red Green Show. I think you ought to clean up Port Asbestos.

7. some answers
1. Who is your favourite singer? nobody in particular these days. Since my daughter was born 4 years ago, my music has been limited to mostly's children's songs, so I'll say the woman that does the singing voice for Mulan.

2. Who is your favourite author? Too many good ones, but I'd say that JRR Tolkien has to be my all time favorite.

3. Which country would you like to visit if you had the opportunity to do so? Since I've already been to China once and am going again later this year, I'll say: Australia, New Zealand, Italy, England, Canada, Greece, Japan and a few others.

4. Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them. No pets

5. What is your opinion of Canada? It's a fine country.

12. Mine
1. Who is your favourite singer? I have two; Bruce Springsteen and Art Garfunkel. Springsteen because of his powerful lyrics and Garfunkel for his beautiful voice.

2. Who is your favourite author? Again, two, Nancy Mitford (hilarious between the wars British fiction) and Ruth Doan MacDougall (regional New Hampshire writer)

3. Which country would you like to visit if you had the opportunity to do so? Ireland. I'll get there someday.

4. Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them. No pets unless dust mice count. They multiply rapidly.

5. What is your opinion of Canada? I LOVE Canada. I've lived my whole life in Michigan, a border state, and feel sorry for people who don't have the opportunity to just cross over into Canada anytime they'd like. I get Canadian TV which is FAR superior to US for Olympic and hockey coverage plus there are hilarious shows like Royal Canadian Air Farce and This Hour Has 22 Minutes. I have Canadian cousins and envy them their national health care and just the fact that they live in Canada. It's a beautiful, wonderful country.

Traveling in Missouri once, we tried to find the RedWings playoff game (early round) on TV. When I couldn't find it on ESPN or ESPN2 my mother said "Try the Canadian channel" without even looking up from what she was doing. Then we looked at each other and realized there IS no Canadian TV in Missouri. We're spoiled.

13. Okay I'm Back
The laundry is folded, so here goes:

1. Who is your favourite singer?
Joan Armatrading

2. Who is your favourite author?
Roddy Doyle

3. Which country would you like to visit if you had the opportunity to do so?
Argentina

4. Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.
No pets. I would love to, but I make too many business trips for it to be practical.

5. What is your opinion of Canada?
I love it. I immigrated here from France when I was three years old. I've also seen a lot of the world and am always glad to get back here when I've been away. I can't think of another country I would rather live in. Clean, safe, good health care, etc. As for the politeness thing? Yes we are but I have a hard time wondering why that's a bad thing. I guess it makes us uncool or something. Oh well, I'd rather be uncool than rude.
