for my seester on her birthday
23 years ago, after months of talking to you, wondering what you were doing in mommy's tummy, you came into my world. i can't say i remember much of that day, nor do i remember you coming home, but i loved you.

our childhood and teen years were marked by the good and the equally bad and there were times where we used the word 'hate' more than the word 'love.' i didn't say it then, but i loved you.

we tried our best with each other, but it would be years before we worked through out own things enough to really be able to be there for each other, and the day we realized we were friends is one of my happiest days. we are now able to talk, rather than fight, and are more willing to forgive each other for our transgressions without judgment.

i am grateful for the good times we've had together, even if you'll never drink another midori sour again. and the bad times served their purpose too, bringing us closer together.

i have been lucky enough to watch you grown into a fierce, loyal, compassionate, intelligent and beautiful young woman.

i am proud now to call you seester, friend and confidante. never forget how your sissy loves you.

:loveya:

3. Nice post!
I was/am the younger sister. I remember my sister didn't seem to like me very much in high school, and I didn't know why. Later, when we were out of college, my mother commented that my sister had said I didn't call her much. I realized I was still kinda hurt from the old days. I let it go, and in the many years that have passed, we've been very close, as close as, well, sisters! Our kids are the same ages and genders (older boy/younger girl) and they are more like siblings than cousins.

8. it took a number of things,
including my moving out and our parents' divorce, to bring us together. we still have our lingering issues, but the hurt is long gone.

i'm glad you and your sister have been able to build the relationship you have :)
