My cat is back in the hospital.
While I was washing dishes, he hopped up on the kitchen counter and peed--and there was blood in the urine. So, back to the vet. They're keeping him at least for the rest of the day, x-raying his bladder to look for stones, blood work, etc. He may come home this afternoon, maybe not.

They all know and love him now. The vet said that peeing right in front of me was a cry for help, and that he wasn't surprised, since he thinks Leon is "one smart cat".

So, now it's back to worrying about him.

3. He has been checked for kidney problems?
My old girl Angel (a sweet old dog) was just diagnosed with kidney failure. That is one of the signs of advanced kidney failure. (I hope and pray it is not the case with Leon!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

6. I lost my Ari to crf in 2003, so I keep asking about kidney problems
and the vet keeps saying that's not it. They're supposed to do blood work today, and I'll specifically ask about BUN and creatinine levels.

Thanks!

:( I hope things turn out OK for him.

My cat Hamlet died of kidney disease at age 13 a couple of years ago. I still miss him.

8. Consider getting a second opinion . . .

if your vet doesn't do BUN and creatinine tests. Has Leon been losing weight? Hamlet did. And toward the end, I also noticed that he had a distinct ammonia smell to him. But then, I knew what was going on because my vet had already done blood work on Hamlet because of his age.

9. I'll keep your beastie in my thoughts
My late Ferg battled that stuff for years and ended up dying of old age at 19. Bless Leon's little heart!
