I can't bear to watch horse racing anymore
I used to love to watch the Triple Crown races, but after Barbaro's ordeal I won't watch anymore. If people insist on racing horses, I wish ALL tracks would adopt the new padded tracks to try to cut down on these devastating injuries. Poor horsies!

1. I don't much
like any 'sport' that involves non-human animals.

I was going to respons by asking what you thought horse racing would be like if the horses didn't have jockeys on them.
Then I thought it might be like greyhound racing.
Then I thought, maybe not, since greyhounds are essentially trying to 'get the rabbit.'

So, what do you think horse racing would look and be like without jockeys? :)

:hi:

3. watched a special on HBO
about the life of the jockeys. And while yes they chose the career they are in. The things they have to do to their body, to make weight, ruins their health.

If I heard correctly they can not weigh over 115lbs, if not less.

It's a tough and dangerous sport for both rider and horse. And The Stables and the Tracks make a living of them.

It's a good show, I can't remember the name of it. But it goes behind the scenes of what the life of a jockey is about.

4. I can't either
since seeing a horse fall and slide under a fence at Santa Anita. both horse and jockey were ok, but it was so horrible. Horse races are definitely not the horses idea.

pushing 2 yr olds is INSANITY. and the padded tracks, yes!!!

but, i don't think a horse should be raced until it is 5 yrs old when it is properly termed a HORSE!!

any horse under the age of is termed a junior horse and i am AGAINST the racing of junior horses!!!
