She may have something in mind that she would like to do, but when she gets to MEPS, they may say it's unavailable. She should be prepared to walk out unless she gets the job she wants. You don't want her to end up as a "bath and laundry specialist".
3. Exactly what I was going to say. They will try to push an MOS that is low in bodies. If she has her
heart set on a specific job, then make sure she stands her ground. They expect you to be scared and back down when they push you to a certain job. Just tell her to stand her ground and say that she'll be glad to wait until her desired job slot opens up and to give her a call when it does. They will back down, but only if you put your foot down.
She was in delayed entry last year for Army. Her main objective was like you said.. to have jobs in mind. She backed out at last possible minute.
After 9 months of being "out there" in life with bills etc. She just wants to hop on a ship and tour the world. This time she wants to pick a Rate in Navy that has a lot of sea time. Her other concern is.. "Can I ship out to boot camp tomorrow?"
Bath and Laundry Specialist heh.. she is actually considering Boatswain's Mate.
I want her to be happy above all. She is 19 and our area lacks opportunity. I didn't push her either. I'm actually proud of her for doing all this on her own.
She has my blood and for me to say "no" she would say "yes." If I were to try the reverse and say "yes" she would figure I was doing that to trick her. She is *cough* grown so all I can do is support her decisions.
some of the things they asked her to do seemed a tad bizarre. It was for the Navy. It just sounded weird. I don't know if this is where they give you the shots but I know they lost her paperwork and she had to have all her shots over again.
