Mel Hayes and Sunshine live tonight with special guests the Fifth Dimension at Bill Graham's Fillmore West!

Too bad there are no pictures. Might be interesting visually.

First off, there's my husband, mid/late thirties at the time, caucasian, six feet tall with a long, dk brown ponytail and lots of five o'clock shadow. He plays rhythm guitar. Likes to drink.

Ferris, our bass player, late thirties, short and stout, african-american, balding and underpaid. Really nice guy who often would take refuge in our room to get away from Chuck, the guitarist he was forced to share a room with. Likes to drink.

Chuck, the lead guitarist,early thirties, pure caucasion and complete Asperger's case, who's last job was playing in a cruise ship's orchestra. Likes to play in bands for the money. Likes to drink.

Finally Mel Hayes, our fearless leader/drummer. Over 350 lbs, 55 years old, african-american with the worst Jeri-Curl I've ever seen in 1997. So bad he looks like Sinbad on steroids. The only professional drummer I've ever met who could not keep time, not even a little. Refused to practice and also refused to learn any new music, yet still had the nerve to call us a top 40 band. Liked to drink so much that one night Ferris and Michael had to keep passing his giant torso back and forth between them, as he had passed out during one of Chuck's technically correct but soulless guitar solos. He's had fifteen jack & cokes (that we knew about). Also thought he was going to make it big with a remake of Clarence Carter's Strokin'.

Then there's me, the only female in the bunch. I wasn't allowed to help with the equipment, since Mel said it would "make my uterus fall out" if I did too much lifting. Was forced by economic hardship (we were only paid $300 per week, a piece) to wear skin-tight pvc vinyl pants on stage to encourage horny GIs to buy the band drinks. Had to endure Mel insisting I "bend the note" at the end of an horrific Celine Dion song that I never wanted to sing in the first place, so that I would sound "just like her". Starts to get angry any time some moran asks if I'm Sunshine. Likes to drink.

Irish pub and smoky fire optional. :D

I'm glad I got in on the ground floor of this juggernaut. :)
