Wrens are mocking me. Continue to construct nest on front porch.
So, I dismantled the first nest last week and the wrens have returned and have started building another one. The mama wren must be going to pop soon as they are diligent in their effort. They must love this box because they keep going for it. One lands on the edge with some detritus in it's mouth, looks around and then "hops" into the box.

I swear they are mocking me. It's in the "hop", I can tell they are pissed at me for destroying Nest Project #1. They are cute, but I know better, I'm telling you it's all in the "hop". Like little velocirpators they are.

Don't think me cruel for destroying Nest Project #1, as I stated in a previous post, there are neighbor cats around and they would surely get the nest with babies. Plus there are yard tools in the box that we use on a semi-daily basis.

I guess I'm gonna leave this one and hope that they finish the nest, lay the eggs, eggs hatch, babies nurture, babies fledge, babies leave, wrens leave. And I'm gonna have to be ever vigilant for the neighbor cats. Maybe I can build some kind of anti-cat barrier.

1. Maybe dog fur/scent around the area would discourage the cats?

2. I think there is something you can spray to keep cats/dogs away
I've seen it in pet stores.

3. The question is will it scare away the wrens? Maybe.

4. Try moth balls in the box
Well, it works for chipmunks and squirrels.
