1. I don't have a choice
if I don't work, I can't put a roof over my head and have Lelapin in college. Not driving is not an option.

It sucks to be living on the edge. :(

2. same for me
not much of a choice, I have to work and public transportation is non existent for me. However, the higher it goes, the more I ride my motorcycle and the less I drive the car. I'll buy as little as possible anyway.

16. Scary
that abyss...

I don't travel if it's not absolutely necessary. I stop on the way home for groceries, etc. And a road trip this year? Even if the car would make the trip, I can't afford it.

:(

18. So's my "driving therapy"
When I needed to get away mentally, I'd drive. Hundreds of miles sometimes. That's gone bye-bye. Until they planted the fields this weekend, I substituted walking the fields when it was dusk. Now that's gone. I don't dare take up drinking. ;)

20. Don't hate me, but we still do that. We can because we only drive about 20 miles a week
to do shopping, etc (no commute for either of us).

7. I don't have a choice either.
If gas gets over $6.00, I think it's time we burn Exxon down to the ground. :grr:

4. $5 is what I'll pay
I took a trip to the mountains last week and I averaged 38.3 mpg on the drive up and 39.3 mpg on the drive back home. I drive a Toyota Corolla with a 11 gal tank. I will pay $50 for a 400 mile range.

5. $10.00
After that I park it until the price drops.

I'm fortunate that I don't have to drive a lot so a tank of gas lasts me a couple of months.

I walk or ride the bus about 90% of the time now. I only drive if it's nasty weather or I have heavy things to carry. Once in a while I drive if I'm going out of town.

6. I don't know. If it cost me more to drive to work and back than I earn....
I'd quit my job, stay home, and do all my shopping online or at the grocery store 1.5 miles away (there's a rather pleasant walking route to that store, too).

9. if it is $4 on the first week of August
then my vacation trip is officially cancelled, except for the 30 mile trip to visit my brother and sister.

Right now I pay nothing, and I just bought an electric lawnmower too.

*Forced* to pay is something else altogether.

11. I had to think about this some
but voted for 5 dollars a gallon.

I dont think there is any good reason for it to get higher than that for the near future until we begin to run out of oil altogether. if it does go higher, It will significantly curtail my fuel purchasing.

22. I'll pay with the blood of innocents killed in oil wars
Or I'll organize my life so that I can get to and from the places I need to go by walking or biking.

Tough choice.

Hmmmmmmmmm

27. I am going to be forced to pay whatever the price is, because I
have to get to work. :(

But if the price starts pushing $5, I will drastically change my casual driving habits.

No more driving to get the sale price for groceries or whatever, because I'd nullify the savings wasting gas.

28. Assuming diesel stays where it's at so food costs don't skyrocket as well...
$6

If the cost of food goes up (which it still is, despite diesel prices remaining the same!), then $4.

My next car will be energy efficient, to say the least.

29. It depends on the situation
If I'm going to work, I'll pay what I have to. If I'm just running around, I'll stay home if it gets too high.

By the time it hits $4, I'll be staying home a lot. I can more or less afford it, but it's the principle of the thing.
