4 Injured (3 Students) In Attack By Two Rotweilers On School Playground
Edited on Fri May-25-07 12:17 PM by matcom
<snip>

Two Rottweilers broke loose from a yard next to a Falmouth school playground yesterday and injured three third-graders and a teacher's aide during recess.

The students and the aide, who pulled one of the dogs off a child, were treated for bite wounds and cuts at Falmouth Hospital and released, according to a statement by Falmouth police.

The aide, Dawn Labossiere, 37, suffered a dog bite and several cuts on her forearm.

"Everybody's OK; everybody's home," she said yesterday afternoon from her home in Teaticket after the incident.

According to police, the Police and Fire and Rescue departments responded just before noon to a report of several children suffering from bite wounds at the Teaticket Elementary School. Staff at the school, which serves children from prekindergarten to fourth grade, ushered students inside after the attacks began to prevent further injuries. Only the third-grade class was having recess.

One 9-year-old girl was treated for a bite to her left shoulder and back, as well as several cuts. Two 9-year-old boys were also treated for bite wounds and cuts.

Labossiere said the school day continued as scheduled for the rest of the students.
