Would You Sell Your Cat?
Because I've never bought a cat, I think that people and animals come together by destiny. That is obviously not how the pet business operates. Animals are bought and sold like wheelbarrows, or vegetables, or lottery tickets.

Would you sell your cat? What kind of price would you demand if your circumstances were different?

1. I could never sell my cats.
I could give them to a good home (and might have to if I can't take care of them anymore) but only if it was necessary and if the home would be better for the cats.

4. LOL. I don't think anyone would BUY my cats.
They are Heinz 57 mutts of no particular value on the open market. ;) Now, if they were some dang expensive rare breed, and I were broke, or something, yeah, I might sell them, although it would certainly pain me to do so, and I would make sure they went to a good home. But if I were broke, I'd be selling just about everything else as well, and cats would certainly be last on the list to go!

But neither case is true so I guess I'm stuck with the silly fluffy buggers. Kidding, LOL. I do love my lil guys. :D

41. My theory on cats and paper
They love toilet paper, and will sit on top of any papers you try to read (don't do your taxes or read a newspaper on the floor!)

Reason: Cats were domesticated by the Egyptians. The Egyptians also gave us...

Anyone?

Anyone?

Okay, I'll tell you... PAPER! The connection is as old as civilization itself. Cats know this.

My cat tries at least to chase anything I throw, but doesn't bring it back. However, my dog runs behind the cat chasing stuff I throw.

24. On certain days I would consider it.
But mostly no way.

He's my kitty, and as much of a pain in the ass he can be, I just couldn't do it.

When he ran away for a week, I was miserable. I would even shoot the laser pointer around the room thinking he would miraculously appear at home and start chasing it. No, I love the little begging bitch-hog.

Sure. He looks innocent, but I guarantee that he is really plotting the overthrow of the humans so he can have the whole house to himself.

27. Unlikely
At least not at any price anybody is willing to pay. Fifty bucks? I laugh in your face. Five hundred bucks? I laugh in your face. Five thousand bucks?

Well, now I'm staring at five grand on one hand and a $1600 hospital bill on the other... tough choices.

Fifty thousand? Ooch, that's a painful 'yes'. That's my uncle's Subaru and a down payment on a house for me and my son. As opposed to my current beater and a rented room in a townhouse.

We're assuming, of course, that the person that wants thousands of dollars for my cat loves her and is not looking for, say, a new fur hat or a chance to practice surgical procedures.

33. never....
Lots of breeders produce new kittens/puppies/whatever because they love the breed and are interested in breeding animals they enjoy, and they sell them to people who value those animals too. THEN they become pets. I don't think selling kittens or puppies is quite the same as "selling your pets."

 I had several cats growing up, and they were members of the family. I also had a large number of dogs, gerbils, hamsters, white mice, and even a baby squirrel that fell out of a tree, but I would never have tolerated selling any of them. Currently, my dogs are my children, and I could NEVER sell my children. They are not commodities.

I don't own a cat. While I understand the need to charge fees at shelters or to charge for expenses such as medical care or food, I don't like the idea of selling animals. There are so many that already exist and need homes. And the pet industry perpetuates unhealthy traits like teensy weensy terriers, because they're apparently fashion accessories. :eyes:
