I like to go out to dinner by myself
Sure, it feels a little strange but then I can go where ever I want to. And it's my birthday Saturday and I figured they would be very crowded then so I went tonight. Tonight I went to a Mexican restaurant, of which there are a Brazilian here. But this place is special. It's called La Playa and they have some really great seafood dishes. I had seafood enchiladas, with shrimp, crawfish and scallops. YUM. And they were huge enchiladas too. So much food that I didn't even eat the refried beans or rice but so what. And a Shiner Bock to wash it down. I highly recommend it if you are ever in Corpus Christi.

2. Thanks
I don't deal too well with birthdays anymore because usually I spend them alone. I mean, I am usually alone but one birthdays it seems worse somehow, so probably on Saturday I will have to distract myself. Maybe go to the beach or something.

5. I like to go to them alone, too
A lot of times I'll bring my journal and just write-- about stuff, about things I observe, or stories I make up about people I see. I then pillage this resource for song ideas. I'm a bit of an introvert at heart, and I treasure my alone time.

And remember, there's a big difference between loneliness and solitude.

6. Happy Birthday Alarimer!

Sounds like good stuff to me!

I wish you the best! Are there other La Playa's or is that a common name? It seems I went to one either in Austin or San Antonio?

Prolly just a common name. Playa means?

:hi:

8. There are three here, all owned by the same people
I didn't think it was a big chain but they might have some in Austin or San Antonio. La Playa means the beach.

10. The beach
well that probably means it is a common name

I tried to look it up and kept getting definitions for "beach"

I thought I was just having bad luck searching :silly:

7. I went on vacation solo, twice.
I was making money and none of my friends were at the time, (early 20's) so I ended up eating alone.

People were SHOCKED that someone would vacation by themself.

Once I went to a place where they seated you family style. Another time I made the mistake of ordering something that came out flaming. That made everyone look at me sitting alone reading my book. I gave them a 'fuck you' look as they whispered to each other and enjoyed my flaming steak dish. :)

11. I take short trips by myself
I used to go camping alone. I would stay in state parks or national parks. There were always other people around. The worst problem was nearly running over a skunk on my way to brush my teeth one night.

I plan on taking a real vacation one of these days, maybe Europe or someplace tropical. They only problem is sometimes you pay more to travel along. A lot of trips are based on "double occupancy." But I have seen some websites that deal single travel. I haven't given it much thought yet.
