1. Pretentious social climbers
Frasier and Niles are pretentious social climbers, so the faux Brit RP wannabe accent fits right in with their social climbing.

3. I thought it was more a pretentious NE US accent.
Daphne has a cute cockney-esque accent. I have no idea what dialect Frasier and Niles are going for.

12. Mancunian NOT Cockney
Cockney is a London accent and dialect. Daphne is from Manchester which has a totally different accent - the accent used isn't particularly strong, it's probably toned down a touch for the American audience.

...her accent for the character wasn't really an authentic regional British accent--sort of an amalgam of several.

Ah, yes, Manchester. Davy Jones (the Monkee, not Davey the dude with the CGI nasties) is from Manchester. I should have recognized that accent just because I loved him so when I was in elementary school.

Lord, that's embarrassing. :rofl:

The British are not a pompous lot, but those who believe they sound more cultured if they affect British accents are truly pompous.

24. He is....spends a lot of time at the Carleton Hotel.
And hangs at the bar in Poor Phil's whenever he's in the area. I've never seen him there, but know people who have.
