Every one says that David Crosby is a fat no talent,
who got lucky enough to buddy up with good musicians. I don't agree. He was the greatest harmoniser in rock. He sings just under the lead singer and boosts the sound to better. He was thrown out of the Byrds for being an untalented jerk. Nash and Stills got him. I'm watching a reunion of the Byrds on youtube and Bob Dylan comes in. Who does he come to? David. The one person he's comfortable singing with till he get's his legs.

1. Notice at the end when Bob and Roger are singing?
Bob's looking around to find David. He seems to be a touch stone for singers.

3. To appreciate David Crosby
you have to know what you're listening to. He's the "inner voice."

7. i met him once
When I worked in a computer store in SF he came in to get his laptop worked on. He came in and dropped it off with his driver who stayed while he went off to the studio with CSNY. I needed his AOL password to diagnose sit so his driver called up the studio for me. I talked to them on the phone and i could hear Neil Young playing guitar in the background. He didn't come off as a jerk but not exactly too friendly either. I also serviced computers for Herbie Hancock, Kirk Hammett, & Joe Satriani. They were all nice especially Satriani who gave me backstage pass to his concert at the Warfield.

8. I was around Crosby rehearsing a few years ago.....
The building I worked in at the time had a performance venue in it. I was impressed with the sounds coming from him and his band as they rehearsed.

10. They are one of my favorite bands of all time
maybe THE favorite, if I think about it. Crosby brought in a different kind of energy. Listen to Stills alone or Nash alone, they are as different as night and day. All together they meshed into something magical and different from them all.

I must confess I have never heard a David Crosby solo album.

11. Just listen to "Renaissance Fair"
On the Byrds' "Younger Than Yesterday" album, and tell me he never had any talent.

That one song alone still amazes me with its harmonies.

Crosby has talent like Bush makes mistakes. I disagree with those who say there is/are none.

13. What does fat have to do with talent?
I had to ask the question.

I used to see him time to time at a restaurant in Santa Monica, with his 12-step friends. He used to ride a bike there as transportation.

Barney: David Crosby? You're my hero!
David: Oh, you like my music?
Barney: You're a musician?
