Last night I had a dream where a dog died.
I just checked my e-mail and one of my uncle's dogs had to be put down--the tripod German Sheppard named "Max".

I have some great memories of Max. Dumbass dog that thought he was as big and fast as the other 2 germans that my uncle has, but he just kept bouncing along on his three legs

His ears never perked either--they were still floppy til the day he died.

He was 7 years old.

RIP Max. You had a lion's heart

I love German Shepherds, and I adore 3-legged dogs.

I always said if I ever got a dog, I'd lop a leg off. But my guy's got all four. He's a bit klutzy, so he needs all the support he can get.

Sorry about Max.

2. Shepherds are the best
I like the dogs that are in the very literal sense your "friend".

Dogs as we know it, after all, evolved to be our protector and friend. Which is something that is oddly touching to me when I think of it.

What other animal have we developed such a close kinship with?

(no disrespect to cat people intended)

3. Our family dog Wooba died on the Sunday before Memorial Day.
We spent Memorial Day morning burying her. She's buried next to my scotty girl Maddy McCall.

Wooba was a gem of a girl. Sweet, gentle, loyal. Also a German Shepherd (with 1/4 timberwolf).

Very sorry about your uncle's boy Max. :(

5. I didn't talk about it on DU.
It was just another kick in the gut, in a month long succession of kicks in the gut.

Thanks for your condolences.

6. Well
I'm sorry the whole month sucked. I hope losing the dog was the worst part.
