3. Why quit when it is such a cheap form of recreation
Why spend $8 to watch a new movie, when I can spend $5 and drink 12 beers which will make the free movie on TV seem good?

13. Ok, part 2 to that, the bock or the regular variety of Huber?
I'm partial to the bock, especially because in my area the regular tends to be skunked. Nobody buys it because they think it will suck and a vicious cycle develops

30. I once got a horrible hangover from a mere 2 liters of Hasenbraeu
Now given, I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that I hadn't been eating anything but bread and tomato sauce for a week before hand, but still 2 liters shouldn't make one sick the next day.

24. do they still make Ballentines? the poor man's IPA?
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 12:10 PM by kwassa
edit to answer my own question:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballantine

Because Ballantine is now widely sold in 40 oz bottles, it is often lumped together with Olde English 800 and other malt liquors in the public mind as a "badass ghetto beer" <1>. By contrast, in its heyday it was a popular and well-regarded pale ale. While there are claims that the original formula has not been changed since then, it is fairly obvious that the formula and brewing process have both changed quite considerably over the years (multiple times) and that the present day Ballantine bears only a very slight resemblance to the original brew. This is most notably evident in the the lack of hop character that was present in the original (which was a direct result of the generous addition of house-distilled aromatic hop oils). Despite a greatly diminished flavor profile, fortunately Ballantine Ale remains a beer of some character, even if somewhat altered from is glory days as "America's Best Selling Ale".

My college roommate and I used to gather our loose change every Friday and buy a 12 pack. Back in 1986-7, you could get 12 for about 5 bucks.

Do they still make it?

PA has pretty strict rules about beer sales, so you have to go to a beer store and they carry a lot of obscure old brands there.

My friends and I discovered that Pabst was the perfect morning beer years before "Blue Velvet" was a misfiring neuron in Lynch's twisted brain pan.

BTW, we referred to your preference as "Dog Style" and cursed our mothers on the godforsaken nights we had to drink it.
