Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 02:17 PM by Rabrrrrrr
This is over in GD, but it's worth reading. But first, this idiotic little number which you will see in one of the posts.

Shrub throwing baseball is equal to the bravery of George Washington

Oh, man, I just love this little sub-thread, I'll separate by alternating italic and non-italic.

Yep. I think I quit breathing for a few minutes. I can feel the feeling in my chest the same as when he did it.

It was a brave courageous act.

I need to remind my 8 y.o. again.

Was it that tight, constricted feeling? That's what I had...

Same here. I didn't want to watch but couldn't not watch either.

2. Not even remotely brave, unless they have a slugger at the plate.
Which would have been a nice idea, come to think about it.

3. Why did I go to that page?
It just made me mad to see how easily a vast number of my citizens duped.

Pathetic idiots.

Here's something brave he could have done: go to NY on 9/11.
Even to DC would have braver than hiding in his
nuke-proof spider hole until Uncle Dick gave him the all clear.

4. HILARIOUS!!!!
To: The Wizard
I remember that night as I clutched my husband's hand and moaned "why is he doing this"...it seemed madness. In retrospect, I can see it gave me and millions of others courage.

Bless you for remembering. We needed a strong leader and he delivered.

Because the BFEE used the same tractor control beam weapon that brought down Wellstone and Columbia to guide the baseball for a perfect strike.

8. That was caused
by the powerful echo of the EMP pulse that brought down the twin towers, it knocked out the gyros of the Seqway momentarily. The echo is expected to last a few years.

12. OMG!! I missed that one
the hand holding one, that is. Saw the pandering for votes one.

Are they so pathetic that they would actually look at their spouse in abject fear and say, "Why is he doing this (incredibly dangerous thing)?"?

Do they not realize that, at the time, that stadium was the safest place in the country because it's enclosed, and you can bet the SS were there, probably starting a day early, checking EVERY employee, and the NYPD was all over the place, frisking everyone who came in...

Sheesh.

When Reagan was president, his son's ballet company to my small-town high school to perform an evening show. The Secret Service - and this is just for a president's son, by the way - were crawling all over the school starting before school time; they were stationed outside the theater at all doors all day; those of who worked in the theater weren't frisked, but had to be proven to be authorized by our teacher before we could enter the stage.

One of my friends accidentally dropped one of those very heavy pounds weights used to counterbalance curtains - big boom sound, and holy hell, you'd think it was dog day afternoon.

Yeah, you can bet that stadium was the safest place to be.

1) They're too stupid to realize that
2) If they know the SS are there, they don't trust Americans to not kill their boy President

14. Do ya think that seeing Bush take a dump
will have a more pronounced effect? I can see the Freeper board now: "All the dems are attacking our brave Georgie, and he had the courage, the ultimate, brave audacity to squeeze out a steaming coil! Oh, I had palpatations, I tell you! I had to call my 8 year-old to watch! I even Tivo'd it! I'd watch it over and over and over again, but I'm afraid I'd get the "vapors"!"
Geez. These people make me want to vomit. In fact I think I will. :puke:

Oh, how brave indeed. That poor eight-year-old kid. He never had a chance. Oh, the therapy he's going to need down the road. The combination of genes and environment is devastating to his poor, developing mind.

23. Here - story on just how much security there was. Out of control!
http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/columnists/20011031cook1031ap2.asp

It's just too bad that so many weren't in their seats to soak in the pre-game scene.

(snip)

Thousands, stuck in the security lines, missed not just Bush's first pitch, but Clemens' first pitch to Diamondbacks leadoff man Craig Counsell. Security would have been tight under the best of circumstances, but was extraordinary because Bush was in the house to watch the game from Steinbrenner's private box. Even in the second inning, the crowds around the gates looked a lot like the Times Square crowds on New Year's Eve.

(snip)

"This will probably be the safest place in America," (Diamondback player Mark) Grace said before the game.

26. Oh. My. God.
Are you listening to me, you wonderful Free Republic regulars, yes you: the ones drooling all over the notion that Bush is courageous for having thrown out the first pitch that night?

How pathetic can you get? Your boy is indeed a miserable failure as a president. I can't believe how you guys still act, 2 1/2 years later, as if the attacks just happened and as if your boy deserves a continual afterglow of the "rally 'round the leader" vibes he got. Look at yourselves, will you? 3,000 American citizens died, and you are orgasmic over the boost your boy got off of that. It's insane.

He threw a fucking baseball, and you're swooning over this?

:puke:

By the way, brass balls? Yes, if he's the freezing monkey....

Bush could drop his pants in the middle of a speech and shit on the podium, and the freepers would think he had done something wonderful. God help me if I ever develop that kind of blind devotion to a fucking politician!
