1. Oh god. I had one.
Johnson Smith catalogue.
In the back of a comic book circa 1952.
Got the "Exploding Matches" too.
Chickened out and grabbed them from my mother's hand at the last moment.
Good move on my part.

3. I had one, too.
A lot of people had them, so offers of shaking hands became suspect.
To this day, I hesitate to shake hands.

Also had a "buzzbox"-- a package involving a 6V lantern battery, an ignition coil...

Personal favorite was cigarette loads. The package had a LOT of them in it, and you had to keep finding new victims. Almost became a victim myself, except that really, really big guy just couldn't run too fast.
