4. Episode 14 is mine
•'Face the Press'
•New cooker sketch
•Tobacconists (prostitute advert)
•The Ministry of Silly Walks
•The Piranha brothers

Well... maybe my third favorite, after 42 ("The Light Entertainment War") and 45 ("Party Political Broadcast"). But I think it's their best one.

5. Same here. Who doesn't like a nice bit of PRAM now and again?

"Only I won't pay more than a fiver, coz its not wurf it...."

Everyone talks about the "ministry of silly walks",
but that was just such a SMALL part of that awesome episode.

The first "garage band" I belonged to, I named "Spiney Norman"

And I've long held the opinion that Terry Gilliam's brilliant
film "Brazil" was just a darker, greatly-extended discourse
upon the themes first expressed in the "New Gas Cooker" sketch.

6. What themes are those?
That the Hounslow depot is still on standard pressure? That Central Area and Southall Marketing Division are on the S-42 now?

I think "The Piranha Brothers" (or "Ethel the Frog") is by far the best of their psuedo-documentaries and is really what makes that episode the best one — well, that and a kind of silly, high-pitched whine.

Great name for the band, btw.

11. The "themes" of a society of paper-pushers run amok.
Where dotting the "i's" and crossing the "t's" on the paperwork
was more important than actually doing the job the paperwork applied to,
or even the actual lives of human beings...

They actually DID a variant of the "standard pressure" line in Brazil.
When the "follow-up" team is dropping the prefab plug into the hole
that the assault team cut in the floor...and the plug falls right through
to the floor below, because the "prefab plug" warehouse was still
using the old specs.

I had a TOTAL "standard pressure" flashback at the moment I first saw that.

12. No, no, no! Not an MI!
They messed up one thing in that bit, but it didn't affect the joke unless one is an übergeek: Unless Europe is much different than the U.S., the gas for a gas cooker doesn't come from the cooker itself.
