1. HOW in HELL did she do that?
We're lucky if we see one or two a year: she has FOUR perched on her hand???

2. She lives directly in the path of a migration route and you know,....
...at first, I thought it might be "Photoshopped"
but after searching the web I found that it's the genuine thing. :)

3. I have done something similar.
A friend had lots of nectar feeders in his back yard. They were being swarmed by hummingbirds. He took all of them in and gave me a single container of nectar to offer. Those little guys are totally fearless where food is concerned. It was quite an experience.

4. That's so sweet.
You rarely get to see them standing still! That must have been a great feeling--was it ticklish?

5. They were so light, you hardly notice, but the breeze from their
wings was quite easy to feel. I now feed them at my house. I have four feeders hanging on my back porch. All have perches and all the birds appreciate the opportunity to alight. Hummingbirds are nowhere near as rare or aloof as I once imagined.

6. I get all excited when I see one in my garden...
It's great that you get to be so up-close to them.

8. Put out a feeder or two. You can get a lot closer than you think.

7. We have the hummers at our $2.99 feeder.....
We initially bought this beautiful red glass expensive feeder that only one bird, who had to keep flying while drinking, could use at a time and we never saw them use it. Now they use our inexpensive plastic feeder with two places for them to drink from. It has two little perches where they can just stand and drink. This feeder is in constant use, they must like to take a break from flying to drink. They are just fascinating to watch.

10. My first feeder had four openings, but no place to sit.
It was seldom visited. I did not even put it out this season. I now use some with a quart capacity and eight openings from which to sip. They are almost always busy, but there is a perch for each spot. I have to refill about every two days.

12. Yes, they are fearless around humans.
We have hummers flying all around us when we eat on the patio. To them we're just obstacles like trees. I've never tried to feed one from my hand but I have no doubt that they'd be willing to do so.

13. These pictures are great!
I just love all the pics, here.

Never did I think the little " helicopter birds"
as my mom calls them, would sit still and
feed from a human hand.

This is so cool.

Thanks BlueJazz and RushisRot for the
great pictures. They put a big smile on my face.

;-)

15. Great Picture! They're attracted to the color red
Whenever I or DH wear a red shirt, they'll fly very close then stop and hover as if to say, "Hey, you aren't a flower!" My dil's mom was surprised when one landed on her head..and yes, she has red hair.

We have a couple feeders..but right now we only get single birds.
