It is freaking HOT in my house.
It's 93 degrees outside, and the @#$%^&* air conditioning is busted. Every door and window is open, fans are blowing like mad, and it is STILL hotter than hell and humid to boot inside of this mobile home. I'm about to go push ThinkBlue1966 and the kidlet outside and start a big old water fight just to cool down.

Anyone else feelin' the heat out there? :spray:

1. It's 101 out right now
Fortunately my A/C is working and it's a comfy 77 in the house.

Have a  on my tab!

2. It's been in the hi-90's/lo-100's out here for most of a week
Edited on Mon Jun-18-07 03:44 PM by adsosletter
but we don't get the humidity (and I will admit, our AC hasn't been forced onto a brownout yet)

I did have to spend most of Friday outside in 100*+ in a black tux, however...

I say shove 'em outside and go for the waterfight..

:D

edit: my abysmal neglect of the "check spelling" function again...

9. Oh no, that's definitely not the issue.
As I've been in and out of the shower (water on full-blast cold) trying to keep cool, I've been hanging around in a towel (or less) for most of the day... ;)

5. Cool damp towels around the shoulders works.
So does putting your undies in the freezer. ;)

10. When it's so hot your skin is melting off
you'll be happy for the frozen undies. Not frozen solid, just nice and cold.

It's an eye opening experience!

16. I tried it last summer
When it was like 892 degrees.

Took a cue from Marilyn Monroe.

:D

19. When it hits 892 degrees you have to do something.
It hit that in Texas the summer froze mine, too.

But there's no global warming. :eyes:

We're having cold cut sandwiches, and milkshakes made with fresh peaches and frozen yogurt in the blender. :9

18. we don't have AC, so here are my tips
get a giant box of freezer pops - the cheap ones in the plastic sleeves cause you'll eat several a day.

get a bucket of ice water and soak a bandana in it every now and then. This goes on your head or neck. be careful around the computer though.

if it's really hot, I just go somewhere else that has AC like a coffee shop or theatre - the dollar movie place is my home away from home in the summer. or bring a book and go sit in the mall and read. if need be, make friends with someone who has AC.

If you have a basement, go down there. Sure it probably stinks a bit, but it will be cooler than the house will be.

20. Alas, we live in a mobile home
Trailers are like ovens in the summer, without AC. Gotta look into finding a used air conditioner in the local classifieds--we might be able to get one cheap that will at least make the living room cool enough to tolerate for the summer. Thank you for the tips! We have a 7 year old, so we already have a plentiful supply of freeze pops (the sugarfree kind, but still plenty cold!)
