... kind of like the same hatred freepers spew at the Clintons. I'm just tired of seeing her name here and the threads that seem to be started specifically to talk about her.

If she really isn't "all that" why waste time reminding each other of it everyday?

...it's more like a curiosity as to why SHE seems to be singled out over and over. I ask freeps why the hatred of Clinton. So, why the hatred of Jennifer Lopez? What drives it? If someone is tired of seeing her, bash the media for shoving the rich and famous at us all the time.

...and I would feel this way if it were ANYONE. I got weary of the Curt Cobain hero worship in the early 90s but I wasn't always looking for confirmation of it from my peers.

You dislike J-lo. You've declared it. We know it. You could put it in your sig if you want to keep reminding us of it.

but your total anger at people who don't like her is what I was noting, like how Dean supporters get over criticism of Dean. I really don't give her much thought and she is just one of a list of entertainers who I think are highly overrated. That isnt necessarily her fault.

...I'm not angry at all and wasn't aware my post sounded that way. I never pay her much attention myself beyond some of her songs on the radio and the movies she does that appeal to me (The Cell, Anaconda, Selena) but it is kind of odd she gets singled out - out of all the entertainers out there.

She isn't particularly more exposed than anyone else and, on the talent side (if I can be subjective for a moment) most of her work in the cinema generally gets a good reception from critics and fans alike. Unlike, say, Britney Spears, who gets panned by the critics and a host of others.

So, from an average non-obsessive fan of some of her work, what's the deal with singling her out? Is it just the trendy, "in" thing to do?

She's getting tons of media attention that should be given to the Bush lies story. It's not all J LO's fault- the media gets a big part of the blame.

... I have more of a problem with the media exposing us to people like Jennifer Lopez's every waking moment than I do J-lo herself. As far a I know (and from what I've heard from some of my peers) she is a very nice but driven person. Doesn't mean I want to see her all the time - but I don't blame her for it.

That has always been the nature of the media and paparazzi. Until people get over their fascination with the rich and famous (and that fascination includes people who don't like certain rich and people, too), we'll continue getting glimpses and long hard stares at their lives.
