What do you want to die doing?
my dad always said he wanted to die on the golf course, or having sex, preferably both. He died on the third hole...

7. I just want it to be relatively fast....
I saw my father waste away for two years from end-stage renal failure. His kidneys shut down and he had a heart attack one night, then lingered for almost two weeks as they tried to restart his kidneys and then had a final cardiac arrest.

My mother was relatively fine (for her age, which was 93 at the time...I was a change-of-life baby), had a heart attack three days before Christmas of 2005, and died three days after Christmas.

My father died, alone, in the middle of the night. With my mother, we turned off the machine that was keeping her breathing, we were all with her (not the triplets, they were just five at the time and pissed that they could not visit her in the hospital) and she went very peacefully.

Sounds like your Dad died a relatively happy man. Only being on the third hole probably pissed him off.

24. You're forgiven, because I'm not quite myself tonight; my hand hurts from the surgery yesterday
and that's just enough pain to add to the daily burden that I begin to ramble because of it.

And I looked silly to Mrs R today (though she was polite enought not to mention it), drinking my coffee with my splinted pinky sticking out like a proper Brit poofter.

27. No problem....
It was a long week for me...and my humorscope is down.

I hope your finger feels better. My asshole supervisor likes to hold his pinky out like a Brit poofter...because he is an asshole poofter, though not a Brit. He looks ridiculous, though I dare not say anything about it.

I hope that you heal quickly. :hi:

32. I picked the hand surgeon because he has his own operating room, therefore no danger
of those horrible staph infections that are running around the hospitals these days...it was kind of fun to watch him grind off the bone spur, though Mrs R could not believe I'd prefer to be awake and aware during the procedure.

Hey, it beats the alternative, which would have been a joint replacement. I got off easy.

37. consciously breathing...
my fear is knowing death is seconds away while alone

pain may be a challenge, deconstruction of consciousness a challenge, just
how long into the death process will the "will" remain? If there is a will,
and death is imminent then stay with *everything*, see *everything*, participate;
connect with the breath, engage, exhale deeply, inhale... adjust
