Friday night game thread: Can we name songs with all 50 states referenced?
The rules: one or two states per song, so no "State Song" or any recent Chili Peppers songs. Referencing a city counts, so "Stuck in Lodi" counts as a song about California.

Let's see if we can get all 50 states referenced!

Opening bid: Modest Mouse-- "Florida"

65. The song is "Oh Susannah"
and there were two versions: the original version he's going to Louisiana, but in the new and improved version (ca 1849) he's going to California (a far better choice).

Either way around, good call! :D

28. isn't 'stuck in Lodi' about Wisconsin?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lodi%2C_Wisconsin

How about "I can still make Cheyenne" for Wyoming? Yes, it does mention Wyoming - "He aimed his truck for that Wyoming line. With a little luck he could still get there on time, and in that Cheyenne wind he could still hear her say:..."

How about "Oklahoma" the musical for the OK state? It's either that, or 'Okie from Muskogee'.

42. By the time I get to Phoenix, Albuquerque, Oklahoma

Lyrics for: By the Time I Get to Phoenix

By the time I get to Phoenix she'll be rising
She'll find the note I left hangin' on her door
She'll laugh when she reads the part that says I'm leavin'
'Cause I've left that girl so many times before

By the time I make Albuquerque she'll be working
She'll prob'ly stop at lunch and give me a call
But she'll just hear that phone keep on ringin'
Off the wall that's all

By the time I make Oklahoma she'll be sleepin'
She'll turn softly and call my name out loud
And she'll cry just to think I'd really leave her
Tho' time and time I try to tell her so
She just didn't know I would really go.

68. "Albuquerque Gals" ... ?
It's a song they used to play on the radio all the time when I was a kid. I haven't heard it in years and
a search isn't turning up any results.

I think it may have been a play on the Beach Boy's song. But, I doubt it because it had a much more
C/W rhythm.

Pretty funny, tho.

75. I finally remembered... It was "Duke City Gals"...
Still no lyrics or singer yet.

There is a local Rollerderby squad with that name now, tho.
