Does anyone else hate shopping at the ABC store?
I feel like a lush or a criminal every time I go in there...so much booze to choose from

I'm usually the only one in there and I feel like 1000 eyes are one me.

Is it me?

1. Don't let the Baptists get to you like that.
Just flip them the bird when you go there. That's what I did when I lived in South Carolina.

Uh, no I didn't. I went to the Fort Jackson Class VI store. Cheaper than at the ABC, and better selection.

3. It's really weird. Our ABC has a great selection
It's a very nice store--small but nice. Most people don't "shop" when they go in there. They know exactly what they want, get it, and get out. I like to look around. I never know what I'm in the mood for, vodka, tequila, bourbon...so I guess I look funny just browsing or something.

4. I remember the Class VI store at Pond Barracks in Germany...
...we had a ration card for cigarettes and booze.

As I recall, we were only allowed 5 half-gallons of whiskey per month  Two half-gallons and 4 cartons of smokes would get ya' a German driver's license...

5. As a rule I do not drink liquor
but I DO love going in to ABC stores. Perhaps it is the fact I feel like a lush criminal, but I really get more of a "kid in a candy store" feeling.

I usually end up bringing home some sort of brandy.

:hi:

6. I thought you meant some kind of TV shopping network!

In PA, they are called "state stores" ... because they are run by the state! I don't frequent them, but a lot of people complain about the prices, hours, and limited selection. But just about "everyone" would love to have a job working for one of them!

7. We don't have them, you can buy booze pretty much anywhere here.
Gas stations, drug stores, grocery stores, freestanding liquor stores, Trader Joes (their prices rock!) Costco (ditto)...
