F#%@n' Murphy's LAW strikes AGAIN. Damn damn DAMN.
SO of course the absolute DAY that we put the one car in the shop; not to be regained until at least MONDAY morning; the OTHER car goes and blows something halfway down the freakin' highway (husband works TWO HOURS away from home).

Fortunately; we have secured his transport to work; and some very kind friends are going to get the car and bring it home to me, where we will give it a midnight inspection and hope the 24 hour Advance Auto can help. However; atm he does not have any way HOME from the two hours away job. Still working on that one. Cross your fingers.

Meanwhile; I have no dicernable family or freinds available to watch my toddler; so he will have to be watched by my friends who are going to get the car (whom he's never met before); or he will have to ride all over creation with us to get the parts late night.

OH, and the car that's in the shop; even if I manage to tell the mechanic not to start on it tommorrow; I still have to figure out how to get to it and get it home.
AND it's only a two seater; so I can't bring my baby with me anywhere in it.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGH.

Heading over to the bar's open thread now. I DO have vodka in the house; and I'm about to use it.

3. I know. The good news:
At least hubby got to actually go to work; some money is def. better than NO money!
I'm not really upset; just irritated. It could be much worse.
Thanks.

BTW; just read your thread; glad you are free to relax a bit now. Congrats on the hard work.

6. Vehicle problems SUCK!
I'm sorry, babe. I hope you manage to work something out. I'm driving a tremendous pos, until we can replace it in September, and I live in FEAR that it will crap out in the meantime. I'd be screwed.

Good car vibes! Good car vibes!

8. Yes! Good car vibes!
This one is a sorta-kinda clunker (actually in very good condition considering); but has VERY high miles; hence the fact we got it for under 2K. I am hoping to get something nice in either Nov. or Jan.

Thanks for the support.

10. I can empathize.
I have a 16 year old minivan.
The engine light is on, it's burning oil, and (horribly embarrassingly) the muffler has gone to crap (or rather some of the pipes, which are stainless and $$ to replace). It is loud, it stinks, and it's scary.

It sucks that something that depreciates in value and costs so much to maintain is such a financial undertaking at the outset.

Bleh.

12. So very much so.
Had to replace the intake manifold three months after purchase (I KNEW the price was too good to be true!!) to the tune of $700. Ouch Ouch Ouch.
But; I think after this we will probably be able to sail on through the fall ok.

You can't get some replacements from the junkyard? Just being nosey.

14. I don't know....maybe.... the car is hubby's department.
Not that I can count on him to be real proactive about dealing with the issues of *my* vehicle. I wish I knew more about cars. Mine's foreign, so parts can be pricey and hard to come by.

11. Ah. Duh. I forgot for a minute.
Y'know; if I had *bothered* to drop into ASAH *first*; I would have remembered that.
D'yuh!!!
Ah well. I really don't think it's gonna be really bad; just a pain in the ass.
At least money is not the obstacle it once was....not as bad; at least.
