That song reminds me of the time I was living in Austin. It was released while I was living out there, but I could never catch who did it. Thanks for the memories!

63. The first I'd ever heard of Alain Johannes......
was when he jumped on-board for "The Desert Sessions". I like how he and Natasha have contributed to the Queens lineup, even though they've kinda lost that psychedelic edge that initially caught me. The Queens new album, "Era Vulgaris" should be cookin'!

50. Well, others are free to enjoy it...
As someone said, I think being a survivor of this dark chapter of music history will enhance ones enjoyment of it. The names and songs are more likely to strike a chord. It's like if you're a devotee of jazz music, you'll likely have a greater interest in a jazz documentary than someone who never listens to jazz.

Then again, it could be educational for those who were not tuned in at the time, for whatever reason.

I would never have guessed that comment would spark PC umbrage of age-ism...

But you might enjoy it. Buddy MacMaster is now 80 years old, and my parents used to see him perform. The tune he's playing is very beautiful, if not a little melancholy at the time.

28. Not sure
We are going to Cali next week to catch the first performance of S.K.I.N. A new band with Gackt, Miyavi, Sugizo and Yoshiki in it. They are recording in LA and their first concert is at the Anime Expo out there. Sounds like they are making a major push to invade America finally.

But with all the news about the new band we heard that X was reforming. I haven't heard the details but my GF might know.

what with the anime fan base growing, and exposing great bands like Siam Shade, Malice Mizer etc, through the shows.. And holy shit, S.K.I.N. sounds like it's gonna be a hell of a band.. I wonder if they have any plans to head up the the top left corner of the country..

75. If you like amazing guitarists
Check out the Miyavi video I posted above. Miyavi is certifiably insane but he is an astounding guitarist.

76. He is amazingly gifted. If only he were more melodic
Edited on Sat Jun-23-07 02:30 PM by DFW
I prefer more melodic lines, although his chops are undeniable.
Maybe it's just a generational thing. This guy's stuff would
drive me nuts after ten minutes, whereas I could listen to Kottke
or Knopfler all day long.

78. Hehe. I understand
He is definitely not for someone looking for a soothing experience. He is joining a new band and the bets being taken are how long until the other band members kill him.

90. I think this may be the single BEST 7 minutes of DEVO footage ever filmed.

So many of their videos gave folks the idea that
they were some kind of cold, sterile "Kraftwerk"
style performers...

This shows just how much they really ROCKED live in their heyday:

Just as true today as it always was.
