Amazing Rare Garth Brooks Video
This has just appeared on youtube yesterday. Its from a sound check from a concert about eight years ago. He sings his song "The Dance" as normal, then he sings it again in a Rock Style. Just plain amazing.

4. I agree
his voice was real......
and this song is heartbreaking.....

but this is actually my favorite.......

Cowboy Bill

He told a good story and all of us kids listened
'Bout his life on the border and the way it was then
And we all believed him and when he would finish
We'd ask the old cowboy to tell 'em again

You could almost hear those prairie winds blowin'
His saddle a creakin' 'neath his old faded jeans
You could taste the dry dust from the trail he was ridin'
As he sat there and painted those west Texas scenes

And the grown-ups would tell us
You boys keep your distance, that old man's just tellin' you lies
But to all of us kids Cowboy Bill was a hero
Just as true as his blue Texas skies

He told of a time when he rode with the Rangers
Down on the pecos and he saved the day
Outnumbered by plenty, they were almost too cover
With thirty banditos headed their way

He looked back just in time to see a horse stumble
The captain went down and Bill pulled up on his rains
And through a flurry of bullets he rescued the captain
And they rode for a sunset, just the story remains

And the grown-ups would tell us
You boys keep your distance, that old man's just tellin' you lies
But to all of us kids Cowboy Bill was a hero
Just as true as his blue Texas skies

Well I still remember the day that it happened
We waited and we waited but Bill never showed
And the follks at the feed store said they hadn't seen him
So we set out for his place down Old Grist Mill Road

And we cried when we found him lying there with his mem'ries
The old trunk wide open, things scattered about
He was clutchin' a badge that said Texas Ranger
And an old "yeller" letter said Texas Is Proud

And the grown-ups that told us
You boys keep your distance, that old man's just tellin' lies
Well now they're all sayin' Cowboy Bill was a hero
Just as true as his blue Texas skies

Just as true as his blue Texas skies

then the Thunder Rolls
and the Dance

2. He did record some rock n roll songs but,
under a different name. Even had some other guys face on the cd cover. I can't think of what the name was he used. Chris somebody?? I would pay a pretty penny to see him live.

3. His influences were rock mainly
and country was where he ended up.

I met him before he became famous in Stillwater. He had gone to Nashville and returned unhappy with the world that country music was I think.

Later he went back and made it big.

He would play his guitar for the patients on the psych unit I worked on, very cool, did it for free and for fun.

He was a genuinely nice guy, and I imagine he still is.

5. Listening to that whiny jackass voice makes me wanna punch 'em in the fuckin' throat
Edited on Sat Jun-23-07 03:35 PM by Rabrrrrrr
:scared:

He's like a self-parody of all the stereotypical/cliche badness of country, all wrapped up into one package.

on edit: forgot to add "and then shove that fucking stupid asshole cowboy hat up his ass and push him off a cliff".

8. he's actually a nice guy
having met him on more than one occasion I feel confident that he is that.

He's packaged up to make money, sure, that is what the public wants.

16. actually he is a very talented person
having sat and listened to him play any song that someone wanted him to play and play and sing well, I disagree totally.

:hi: have a nice day!

17. Well, we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.
I don't think he sings well, he has that awful whiny country sound to his voice that seems more self-conscious self-parody than any genuine attempt to sound legitimate, and, well, I can't stand his music, either.

But so be it!

Go ahead and enjoy him all you want with my blessings!!

18. Not only that ...
I don't need your blessings

and he is talented whether you like his voice or not.

and he does have a different voice singing country music than he used singing to the patients on the psych unit, well same voice, just different sound.

10. I was just going to say "amazing" and "Garth Brooks" aren't words I would put in a sentence together
But that works too.

And what's with the stupid headset microphone?

11. Thanks, Primate1! You do have excellent taste in music.

Though I have to disagree with you on the headset - the damn things are really, really handy. They look funny, yes; but they're fucking great for people who need their hands free and also want to move around.

7. I love Garth
He seems like a genuinely nice person as does his wife. I love them both! I think Garth is an amazing talent and I would love to see him in concert too. Hopefully, one day soon, he'll take the mic again.

13. That's awesome; thanks for that
It doesn't matter what you think about country music or Garth Brooks. "The Dance" is a great song, and that is an amazing performance of it.
