Fifty Plus Year Old Blender

I have a fifty plus year old blender that still works... Could it be worth a lot of money on E-Bay?

1. I don't know about "a lot"...but

there is a market for everything. Take a look at ebay and see if you can find something similar. I would look under antiques.

5. wow...

We had a luncheonette, along with other businesses over the years, with one of them being an antique store. i remember my dad giving me a bunch of old (1948?) "Archie" comics in prime condition. i wish I still had those...I've checked on ebay, and they can go for big bucks.

Alas, they were stolen, along with a huge "Pampers" cardboard box filled with old baseball cards (I mean they were old in the 1960's).

Some contractors working at our home stole them right out of the basement.

Bastards.

My dad had a luncheon counter, a magazine rack, a newspaper stand, an ice cream box, and a candy rack, Out of all the things I remember were the Playboy magazines he sold... That was the only men's magazine he had...Nothing racier... I had a friends that used to come see me there and I would flip open the centerfold to shock them... I was like ten or so...

I rememember having a friend my age who "read" Playboy and his parents were totally cool with it...
I remember the comic, "Little Orphan Fanny"...

I also used to work there too..

Those were the days...

15. I Lived In Forest Hills Till I Was Eleven

Then my family moved to Florida...

My dad had a store in Redfern from 55-63 and in Jamaica from 63-70...

It was on Jamaica Avenue... Parallel with Jamaica Hospital, about four blocks away... Across from the Van Wyck Expressway...

I once got hit by a car near the bowling alley there... No permanent injuries but injured enough to put me in Jamaica Hospital for three days... The food sucked... It was like medieval torture...

thought it might have been one of the many candy stores on Hillside that I used to hang out in back in the 50s and 60s.

I grew up in Forest Hills but used to spend a lot of time in my dad's store...

I wonder what the neighborhood is like now... There was a lot of manufacturing... It wasn't residential...

20. It's been changing over the years...

bouncing between the ghetto and various urban renewal projects, some that even worked. Jamaica Hospital has grown a lot but the food is still horrible. FWIW, Mary Immaculate's food isn't any better.

I remember the bowling alley. Also remember the Loewe's Valencia and RKO Alden theaters up the road. Seems there was a third, smaller, one, too.

I was born in Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan...

I can still remember the train above it...

I would take the bus from Forest Hill on Queeens Blvd to Jamaica Blvd. and walk the rest of the way....

Jamaica was much different than Forest Hills...I lived right across the stret from PS 175...
