YEE-HAW New York Has TWO Basketball Teams Again!!!
The New Jersey Nets have been sold and are moving to Brooklyn!

I couldn't be happier!! Now I get to actually SEE my favorite team play instead of just watching them on tv.

1. Will they change the team's name to the Dodgers?
Just wondering.

2. East Coast version of
Lakers and Clippers. With Isaiah in charge of the Knicks, guess who's the Clippers? :)

The Gehry-designed Brooklyn arena looks sweet tho.

3. what's the point of this
Where are they going to play? Who is going to come out and see the nets? If they only get 10,000 in NJ, how many more will they get a few miles away in Brooklyn?

5. they'll get lots more
The reason they draw between 10-15,000 fans a night is because the ONLY way to get to their arena is by car.

And most of the fanbase lives in Central to Northern New Jersey.

Now, you might be wondering why, if the fanbase is in Central NJ and Northern NJ, why move the team to Brooklyn?

Well, because they were going to move the team to Newark, but that deal fell through thanks to the wonderful Bush economy. So the team was put up for sale and it came down to John Corzine and someone bidding to keep the team in Jersey, and the guy who owns the Islanders wanting to move the team to Long Island, and the guy who bought the team who wanted to move it to downtown Brooklyn.

Brooklyn is a proud borough and deserves its own sports team again. It's minor league baseball team always sells out and Brooklyn and Manhattan make a much better rivalry than East Rutherford and Manhattan.

Fans will be able to come from the City, Long Island and northern New Jersey, which will make it a lot easier to sell out games. Plus a state-of-the-art arena will draw fans on its own.

This is a win-win for everyone. I just hope the NIMBY crowd doesn't act up too much.
