I have pneumonia again
I have Aids and just got over having this shit three weeks ago. But now it's back...the crazy cough, the night sweats that soaks my pillow, the fatigue, the shortness of breath, all that i had the first time I was diagnosed. Oh, and the relentless fever.I can't go to the ER until my Grandparents are back from their cabin. My roommate forgets to feed the cats and I would rather die than see my cats go hungry. My Grandmother will feed my cats, but she isn't around...so I have to wait...it really sucks..when I sleep I wake up every 10-15 minutes coughing. Oh well, enough complaining from me, just wanted to vent....sick of being sick........I wanna see that hot dude in the underwear thread, can anyone direct me?he he he

6. I had this before, and it took four days of anti-biotics drip
to make it better...i know i have to do it, just putting it off as long as i can. Who knows, maybe it will be nothing and they send me home with medicine, but that is what I thought the first time.

9. Oh, don't worry about me
I go to the best hospital in the country. My regular ER is only good if you are shot or stabbed, but this hospital is really on the ball...they won't even let me sit in the waiting room and will take me in automatically. Which is kind of scary, but comforting at the same time.

11. I'm still a worrier,
and you're one of the sweet, good people here.

I have chronic pneumonia. I get the vaccine every 5 years, and without I get pneumonia every single year. I know what pneumonia can do. And if your immune system is already depressed... :(

I'm very glad to hear that you're getting top rate healthcare.

I learned a lot from my last infection. Always have your pills with you. I went two days without my pills this last time because we didn't know the dose..it really sucked...but that's not going to happen again!

8. On second thought - Leave out 4 days worth of food and water for the kitties
Clean out the box before you leave. Cats can pretty much fend for themselves for short periods of time.

Get to the doctor please.

10. Please be careful, Roon
Pneumonia's no joke - I've had it several times - and with an underlying condition like Aids, I'm sure it's even more serious.

Get the help you need, your cats will be okay - if you have to, leave food out for them but please take care of yourself.

21. yeah, it will get worse
I have had this before..it totally gets worse as the days lay on..I am just waiting until the last very moment...so my kitties are ok..I don't have a ride to the hospital so I have to take the bus, which is OK since the hospital is down the street....but when you are feeling like such crap, even that ride can fuck you up.

33. we have seven kitties, and in a pinch, have stayed away for
5 days... lots and lots of dry kibble, and LOTS of water, and they'll be fine. Please, please don't wait until the last minute, you don't want it to be any worse than it already is.

24. I pretty much solved the problem of feeding my cats
If I decide to go in tomorrow, I am going to leave several days of food for my cats. By then my Grandparents will be back from the cabin and my Grandmother can take over the duties of keeping my cats fed. Thanks to Kitchenwich for this idea!!!

I dont get pneumonia, but I get bronchitis once or twice a year and thats bad enough. I hope you go soon and I'm sure your little furbabies will be okay! They'll be waiting for you to come home as well :)

Dont forget to get some probiotics or yogurt if you're going to be on a lot of antibiotics. Keep that flora in your belly :)

29. You have to take care of YOURSELF first.
What would happen to them without you???

When we have to go away for a couple of nights we leave plenty food (dry) and several bowls of water. We even let the bathtub water dripping because my Tommy likes to drink water from there. However, Tommy stops eating when he is full and never overeats, which makes it easier to leave food out. For longer trips, our neighbor will check on him several times a day.

I hope you are feeling better soon. I am sending you positive vibes :grouphug:

32. If it's bacterial,
then you need to start on antibiotics ASAP.

There have been some very persistent viral and bacterial lung (bronchial) infections going around this year.

And these can represent a serious threat to people with suppressed immune systems. (As I'm sure you're aware.)

Life is precious and irreplaceable, even when in poor health.

Put out a bunch of crunchies and water -- the cats will do fine. Besides, they'd miss you if you passed.

Fever, especially persistent fever, can keep one from thinking clearly. And such an influence on one's state-of-being must be recognized, understood and mitigated.

45. It's possible that the last time you had it,
you never completely overcame the infection. (I suppose that this is a bit of an understatement.)

In my experience, it can take a good six-eight weeks of (appropriate*, oral) antibiotics to beat some of these bacterial lung (bronchial) infections. My otherwise-healthy buddy did two weeks of amoxicillin (plus some cephalosporin), seemed to be fine a few days, then got hammered (!) again, and had to do another two weeks. (But this was bronchial, I believe.)

Lung infections (especially if you throw in a broken rib or two) are up there with kidney infections for persistence and misery-factor. ("Old man's friend", my ass.)

Hang in there; get started on antibiotics if you can -- the longer you put it off, the longer it may take to feel better (to say nothing of the risk).

*: Which can involve changing, using multiple, antibiotics.
