1. Is this thought inspired by the crazy guy...
who never has an intelligent thought, likes to disrupt, and argue without any sort of logic or reason whatsoever?

That is, the zealot?

2. if you're speaking of a specific person - no
But yeah, someone so rabid they can't see reality. I'd put the guy who drives this truck through DC in this category:

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/politicalmuscle/images/truck

But there are other zealots. Not all of them are insane, foaming at the mouth, illogical. Zealots refuse to see any other point of view. They are completely convinced that they're right and everyone else is wrong.

4. I hate to nitpick
but there are times that any sane person could be called a zealot:

slavery, bigotry, etc. do not ever have a justifiable excuse. Is it wrong to refuse to see the other POV in those type of situations? There is another POV, but....

Sorry. I am not trying to start a fight, and for the record I tend to dislike extremism in general, but there are some cases where I cannot agree with not taking a side.

5. A given.
But I will say the ad on the Miriam Webster site to "Pimp my web space" was very disturbing. That WAS a dictionary after all.

6. It's the extremes that determine where the middle is.
The neocons have succeeded in pulling everyone to the right because their extreme has power and ours does not.

Even if you are not part of the extreme far left, it makes sense to support them. You need them.
