Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 03:53 PM by Lindsey
"A Day in the Life" - The Beatles -You'll have to excuse my typing - I just had a minor surgical procedure and I'm feeling no pain due to the meds. The questions is: Never get tired of Hearing. :-)

All bootlegs. He was incredible back then. Still great, of course but I am very drawn to his early performances. I saw him live on 6/30 in Bethel, NY, great show.

And I love those Quest TV videos. I posted all the ones I could find in the Bob Dylan group here, go have a look!

38. Dark Star
But, then, which version? Ah, the many choices in life.

Dark star crashes
pouring its light
into ashes

Reason tatters
the forces tear loose
from the axis

Searchlight casting
for faults in the
clouds of delusion

shall we go,
you and I
While we can?
Through
the transitive nightfall
of diamonds

Mirror shatters
in formless reflections
of matter

Glass hand dissolving
to ice petal flowers
revolving

Lady in velvet
recedes
in the nights of goodbye

Shall we go,
you and I
While we can?
Through
the transitive nightfall
of diamonds

46. 'Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me' by TISM
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh

Everyone else has had more sex than me
Does anyone else get that feeling?
Teenagers, naked, couples in threes;
Grandparents swing from the ceiling;

Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh

Corporate capers and office amour;
Shenanigans outdoor and in
Resist, and then later you find out there's more
Regret in not doing the sin.

All loves have to die - of that there's no help;
My favourite way to end em'
Is the orb-weaver spider's, whose pedipalp
Enters the female pudendum,

Then dies on the spot, his corpse there still stuck,
Left for his rivals to curse it.
He would rather die than not get to fuck:
Personally, I reckon it's worth it

(and the classic flash video here: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/bunny.php )
I never get tired of this song!

"A Day in the Life" always reminds me of my beloved English grandfather - as a child in England I loved riding up on the top floor of the double-decker buses - my grandmum wouldn't let me, said that's where all the riff raff were (HELLO!) - but my grandfather went upstairs because he smoked (he would sit in the back and I'd head for the front)......found my way upstairs and 'ad a smoke...... :D

64. 10,000 Maniacs - Noah's Dove.
Cheezy video, but the song is right on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGjvyXj2FBg

10000 Maniacs - Noah's Dove Lyrics

You win a prize for that
For telling lies like that
So well that i believed it
And i never felt cheated...

You were the chosen one...
The pure eyes of Noah's dove...
Choir boys and angles...
Stole your lips and your halo...

In your reckless mind, you act as if you've got more lives...
In your reckless eyes, you only have time and your love of danger...
To it your no stranger...

In that August breeze...
Of those forgotten trees...
Your time was set for leaving, come a colder season...

In your reckless mind, you act as if you've got more lives...
In your reckless eyes, it's never too late for a chance to seize some...
Final breath of freedom...

Very...
So very wise...

Don't reveal it I'm tired, tired of knowing...
Where it is you're going...

In your reckless mind, you act as if you've got more lives...
In your reckless eyes, it's never too late for your love of danger...
To it you're no stranger...

In your reckless mind, you act as if you've got more lives...
In your reckless eyes, it's never too late for a chance to seize some...
Final breath of freedom.

74. Skittles: How cool to have grown up in England! and what a wonderful
memory of your grandfather. :-)Whenever I listen to The Beatles, (which is every day) I think of all of the daily goings on that they poetically put to the music that has become the greatest we've ever had (imho). It's mainly about day-to-day life. I think that's why I love "A Day in the Life so much." John's voice is simply magical and in the second part of the song he's singing about a newspaper article he read about pot holes - just a day in the life.

There's a "new" acoustic version and a "new" electric version, both recorded in the early seventies that were just released from his archives. Both are equally great...

89. "Jessica" - Allman Brothers. Just put it on a loop and let fly.
I can listen to it anytime, anywhere, over and over again. No matter.

It's one of the top driving songs most likely to get you pulled over for speeding.
