IRON MAIDEN RULES!111!!!!
That's all.

Check here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icAzyx8EsKU if you don't believe me.

What's that you ask? Have you been drinking RS? Why yes I have.

My alcohol intake aside, Maiden still rules after all these years.

:headbang:

2. You have to love a metal band that writes a kick-ass song about the Crimean War.
"The Trooper" is my favorite song of theirs.

3. They were (are) far more literate than most of their ilk
Hell, I went and read Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner because of them.

I love the "Galloping Guru". I am a cheap fascimile compared to him, but I try, and love every second of it. If it were not for this man, I never would have picked up a bass.

9. I love Steve Harris
I touched his shoe once. That was my high school concert going claim to fame. /metal geek

Seriously though, they were head and shoulders above most everything that was passing for metal back in the eighties.

10. Very true
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 10:39 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
When Metallica and Slayer came along, they took me with them, but I never divulged myself of my undying love for the Maiden. The hair-band thing was firmly-rejected by true metal-heads back then.

Up the Irons!!!

And thanks for the thread....I love taking a break from politics to lay down my love for all things Maiden.

15. I was late to the Metallica party
I preferred a little more melody in my metal and as such Maiden was perfect for me, though I came to appreciate Metallica latter on.

17. That's cool
I got into Helloween and Queensryche because of their melody. One can definitely be metal and be melodic.

I just avoided all that Cinderella, Faster Pussycat, Poison stuff. I don't like Metallers who smile too much, and the bass in those bands was non-existant.

18. Certain hair bands I have a soft spot for.
Ratt and Twisted Sister were the first bands I ever saw live, and mock me if you will, but Twisted Sister put on a hell of a live show.

I liked Motley Crue too.

If it helps my metal cred any the only two metal bands that I still have in my music collection are Maiden and Accept.

8. Maiden never went for that poofy-hair look
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 10:35 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
Now Motley Crue, on the other hand...

or Cinderalla more fit the bill.

Maiden was the new wave of British Power Metal....way different genre than hair-metal, which was L.A. born.

16. That is why he is called the galloping guru
Maiden built their music on triplets and C-D-E progressions.
