If there's a good movie playing, wait a day and ask her to that movie.

If there's an art show or concert, time the call to give her time to make plans to go with you.

17. I'm not a dude, but let me tell you what I believe is the correct answer:

If you're really blown-away interested in the girl, call her that night.

If you're intrigued at all and intend to call her, make a call within 24 to 48 hours, even if you can't get together for a while, it's important to make the connection early and establish some mutual interest in one another's company.

If a guy were to wait a week or two to call, I'd just assume I wasn't even in the top 10 on his list of things to get around to, and move along.

Wait until the next day or the day after that. Do not wait more than two days. If you get her machine, leave a message (DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE YOUR NUMBER). If she doesn't call you back within four days, try her again. If she does not return your second call within a week, give it up. (As she gave you her number, she will most likely call you back. Unless, of course, she gave you a fake number.)

Personally, I don't give my phone number out to just anybody, because I had a stalker experience when I was younger. So for me, giving out my phone number is a vote of confidence.

Call within two days. You don't even have to have a specific event in mind. Coffee or a drink will do just fine. In fact, both of these are excellent for encouraging conversation.

(I've told a story about a male friend who blew his chance to take up with a woman he liked because she assumed that he wasn't interested, although she kind of liked him, and he thought he had to wait for some big event to ask her to.)
