On the plus side, I'll be driving a freight truck to get there.

And yes, believe it or not, this is my vacation.

2. MINOT! WOW!
Don't spend all your money at the liquor store on Champale...

Actually, I guess you might as well go ahead and do that.

5. There is a decent steak house in town. We'll probably go there.
It isn't spectacular, but as I recall it was definitely respectable.

3. Wow!
Minot, huh?

What's there? Other than my nephew, that is.

4. I think I will be very close to an insanely large stockpile of
nuclear weapons.

But I'm going to take a few weeks and help out my previous employer, I'll spend most of the next two weeks in remote Western North Dakota, so Minot serves as a useful jumping off point.

The out of town money will really hit the spot--and will enable me to buy another kayak guilt free. :)

With plenty left to spare.

9. One of the guys I'm going up there with was also in the Air Force in Minot
He got the opposite impression. He LLLUUUUUUVVVVVVVVSSSSSSS Minot. Seriously. I think it's because that's where he was when he was young and kicking it up for the first time, but whatever the reason, he is a serious Minot-o-phile.

To be quite honest, I do get a kick out of going places where most people don't (or won't) go. It's like finding something secret. Because of that I usully get a kick out of the remoter parts of ND.

Watch out for the 150 Minuteman 3 nukular missile sites surrounding the Minot Area!!!!!

I remember going to those sites like it was yesterday, and during Christmas 1983 it was 100 below
temp :hi:

10. My brother did about 20 years of Air Force duty in Minot.
He eventually got out, his two daughters were born and raised there and they still live in Minot.

12. North Dakota is _beautiful_, eyepaddle.
Take your camera, spend some time talking to the locals. It's not nearly as bad as you might think.

13. If I had a camera I'd take it.
This will make my 6th extended business trip to North Dakota--and this time I manged to work the schedule so that I get the easy stops.

I just get a kick out of visiting the least visited state in the nation.

Theodore Roosevelt park on the Montana border is breathtakingly lovely. Of course, the TOTAL absence of Whitewater eliminates any chance I would've had of ever living there!
