In restless dreams I walked alone....
My friends of the lounge persuasion, I am feeling very pleasantly wonderful at the moment...
This song is calling to me, so I share it with you... my friends...

The Sound Of Silence--Simon & Garfunkel

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools", said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence

7. I'm so glad to hear that.
I'm okay, especially since my old lady kitty cat decided to move to "her" chair, and off my lap. It's a bit warm for the furbaby to cuddle up to me!

25. It's a bit more complex than that...
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 05:36 AM by regnaD kciN
Sounds of Silence was written in 1964, and originally came out in an acoustic version on their "folk" album, Wednesday Morning 3 A.M.. When that album tanked, Simon went off to England to start a performing career there, and Garfunkel began training for a career in teaching. There matters would have remained, had not the "folk-rock" craze hit, and in particular the Byrds' electric version of Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man. S&G's producer, Tom Wilson, decided to resurrect Sounds of Silence and reworked one of the takes from the previous album with Dylan's band overdubbed on electric instruments. The result was released as a single in late 1965, and became a number 1 hit, while Simon was off on a tour of Denmark, having no idea that his partnership with Garfunkel was anything but a failed part of his past. Once the song hit the top of the charts, of course, Simon was summoned back to the U.S., and the duo reunited to record the album above, which came out in late January of 1966.

14. I'm an Aspie - of course it's slanted!
Slanted in a good or bad way?

I will say I can become quite imaginative once I try to start connecting dots, and I've been wrong before, so that's why I avoid both excessive political events AND playing chess...

But is it not wrong to have a different perception?

Of course, by "slant" if you mean something else, that usually slants upward...

27. Another S&G fav
For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her

What a dream I had
Pressed in organdy
Clothed in crinoline
Of smoky burgundy
Softer than the rain

I wandered empty streets down
Past the shop displays
I heard cathedral bells
Tripping down the alleyways
As I walked on

And when you ran to me, your
Cheeks fleshed with the night
We walked on frosted fields
Of juniper and lamplight
I held your hand

And when I awoke
And felt you warm and near
I kissed your honey hair
With my grateful tears
Oh, I love you girl
Oh, I love you
