3. Quite a few, including
but not limited to a host of Canadians, some Brits, and Norwegian here and there, and Frenchman or two, several Aussies, some Kiwis...

The U.S. may have little use for Democrats, but apparently the rest of the world finds us fascinating.

10. Actually, I like watching cricket. But there are other things in life.
And no forum like this in Australia that I'm aware of, although N.Z.
has Scoop. I really enjoy the exchange of views, and I've learned
a lot. And it's so good to know that not all Americans think the
sun shines out of Bush's behind.

12. I'd rather scoop out my eyeballs
than watch it but I live with a sport freak so I have to suffer sometimes! cricket, rugby, AFL, two flies racing up a wall....

I actually started coming here when I got sick of being called Anti American for not supporting Bush's pre-emptive nightmare in Iraq - needed reassurance that if that made me anti-american then there was heaps of US citizens who'd have to classified that way too!

21. ha ha!
you have a good point there. its one of the reasons cricket will never find favor with most of the world. it can be VERY boring. but i guess its a cultivated affection for most of us cricket fans. i wanted to play cricket for the country when i was 15. but then i developed epilepsy and had to quit all that dreaming.
in a way that was good, coz i continued my education and am now able to see right from wrong. which is why i'm in DU. i want to connect with people who understand how dangerous the bushies can be for the whole world.

on that note, arundhati has a new article on the new american century:

car accidents as they drive past, whether they want to or not, isn't it?

Added: I am so grateful for the presence of Duers from around the world. It is nice to be reminded that there are parts of the world that approach sanity. It is also nice to know that some people in other countries know that not all in the US are crazed war-mongers.

Geographically I'm in Asia right now.

Though I travel to Europe to work, every day...

(Istanbul's Marmara sea-Bosphorus is the official border between Asia and Europe, so the city is divided between two continents)

:hi: :toast:

"sane Americans" .... us? You might not think so after visiting the Gungeon (er... Justice/Public Safety forum) :scared: ;-)

As you can see, we have quite a few other Brits here at DU. The only one not chiming in is Pert_UK who is currently taking a hike around Australia with his girlfriend.

The Lounge is usually goofy and fun... GD2004 gets wild and woolly. But we basically mean well. :D
