I love Dogs
My apt. complex only allows cats and I want a dog so bad. The message thread about the Golden Retriever Puppy made me miss my 17 year old dog and she has been dead for over 2 years now.
I am feeling blue are there any virtual dog owner websites?

1. Get a Siamese cat
they are a lot like dogs.

They greet you vocally when you come home, they like to fetch and do tricks, they love to sit on your lap. They get angry if you leave them alone.

You can get a nice one here: http://www.siameserescue.org/ if you have the patience.

6. I like that website
My Cat is talking to me right now and he won't shut his mouth. He keeps telling me to get my lazy ass off of the computer and go and buy his some cat food and treats. He said that if I didn't do it he would pee on all of my clothes and I told him little dude you better shut your mouth or I will tan your hide.

I lover the rescue sites thanks for the links.

2. I hear Ragdoll cats
Edited on Fri Jan-23-04 04:29 PM by forgethell
yes, there really is a breed called that, are very dog-like in their affections. I do not know personally, as I have never seen one.

But they won't play ball. Get a border collie and drive them bats. these dogs are probably smarter than landlords that don't permit pets.

On edit: here's a link

Here's another one

Good Luck

I love border collies, but I like my cats, too. But I was being facetious about the border collie.

5. Dogs gotta run
No good in the city.

Older dogs don't need to run, and they are very adoptable.

Edited on Fri Jan-23-04 04:49 PM by mitchtv
in Dec '99 . I am still heartbroken. We sold the farm and moved to the burbs after that, as it was no longer any fun. wolf x St. Bernard x great Dane. I don't think I will ever get another.

16. can you have a bird?
parrots are not dogs, it is true. but they will bite you and poop on the floor. and make loud noises. shed (ok, it's called molting, but still you have to sweep it up) you could teach them to do a lot of other dog stuff. they are very smart.
really, tho, i empathize. i had to put my old boxer down a few months ago. i really want to get another, but i have these 2 crazy terrier pups, and that is a lot more than a handful. no room for any more puppyness.
but little dogs are just not the same as big dogs.

17. Why not volunteer at your local shelter to walk dogs for them?
Most have programs to encourage socialization of the pups and your help would undoubtedly be VERY welcome. And, YOU would get to play with pups to your heart's content!

18. of my three Maine Coons,
both of the boys are incredibly dog-like. They follow you everywhere, want to be part of whatever you're doing, run to greet strangers at the door - everything except chew things and bark. One even fetches. Many people call the Maine Coon the Golden Retriever of cats - they have very similar personalities.

21. Get a Chihuahua. Nobody would ever know you had a dog.
It could be easily hidden when you have to take it out for a walk. I live in a mobile home park and we are only allowed one dog. My Rottie is lonely during the day. She gets along well with my son's Chihuahua when he brings it to visit. So I was thinking of getting her one of her own. The management would never know cause I could keep it hidden when we go for walks.
