I found a spider in my bed...
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 02:06 AM by u4ic
A daddy long legs. :scared::scared::scared:

Even though I vacuumed him up...how am I supposed to sleep now?

1. Was it under the covers?
And at least it's not poisonous.

But that would totally freak me out, too.

6. Yes, it was
I had put some freshly laundered sheets on the bed a couple of hours ago, and when I went back - there he was. By pure coincidence (or perhaps not), the vacuum was right nearby.

In my Universe, nothing should have more than 4 legs. :silly:

Thanks for the hug! :hi:

8. Well, if it were me...
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 02:17 AM by VenusRising
I would pull the comforter all the way up, beat the bed with a broom, and then sleep on top of the comforter with a blanket from out of the arachnid-free zone. Just sayin' I'm a freak is all.

16. I want to sterilize the bed
with nuclear waste or something of the sort. :P

I think I already have a reputation of being a freak in my building. My upstairs neighbour must think I'm OCD. I brought home some fruit flies (unintentionally of course) and am vacuuming them up all hours of the day and night. If anyone were to look in my window, seeing me waving the vacuum hose in the air...:silly:

22. I know how to get rid of fruit flies!
:bounce:

Put some beer or wine in a glass and cover the glass with plastic wrap. I usually use a rubber band to make sure that it's on securely. Poke a hole about the size of a pencil in the top. They will be attracted to the fermented smell of the alcohol, and will get inside the glass and drown in the alcohol. I would check my cup when I walked by to see if there were any hanging on the plastic, and would thump them down into the liquid, hence the rubber band to make the plastic secure. It takes 2-3 days to get them all if there are a lot, but it does work.

:)

They scare me too, sweetie...

But remember this: YOU are a lot bigger, and scarier, to them!

I very much doubt that any more will be coming your way tonight, or anytime soon... :pals:

12. Hey
I hope you're having a lovely summer.

So what occurred to me in this thread is I haven't seen GoPsUx around lately. I hope he's doing well.

How about you?

I haven't been around much lately, so I don't know who has been around and who hasn't.

I haven't heard from him in awhile. I should PM that man, and find out what he's up to.

:hi:

20. Yay
I'm glad.

I'm having a pretty good summer, not great. I took a couple days off work recently so I could spend some time with a friend who was coming to town, then her plans got all discombobulated, and I only got to see her for lunch. Now I'm thinking I should go visit her, but it's too soon to take more time off work. :grr: stupid job. I should have picked fabulously wealthy parents. :)

Anyway, g'night. I hope you don't get any more spiders in bed with you.

He migrated from the laundry room (right outside my apartment door) earlier this evening.

I've never found one in the tub yet, but I'd prefer that to my bed!

19. I heard someplace that the average person...
... eaths 4 spiders while sleeping during their lifetime.

So, average lifespan being about 80, that averages one every 20 years.

How many have YOU eaten!?!?!?

36. even the spiders
get lucky sometimes

I recently read that the daddy long legs was not really a spider, now I read that it is or it isn't.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pholcidae

But none of those pictures look like what I would call a daddy long legs. When I was a kid, I always thought of them as harmless, kinda big and scary, but harmless. Unlike, say bees or wasps or mosquitos.
