Ha! Just saw a movie goof.
I read about them all the time in imdb.
An anachronism?

Watching 'Goodfellas'.
Screen title says "Idewild 1963"
That was it's name before it became JFK.

Cuts to a B-747 flying over.
747 didn't come into service until 1970.

1. Good catch!
I always get a kick out of it when I catch a continuity error or anachronism, but I have nowhere near the eye for detail those IMDB folks do...

2. I noticed one recently, also.
Don't remember the title of the movie, but, it was set in the mid-to-late '40s and a guy was smoking
a modern cigarette with a filter... I could read the brand name.

3. I enjoyed the old story
about a movie involving a Roman Army storming over a hillside. The scene had to be reshot when the producer noticed many of the "Soldiers" were wearing watches.

5. There's one about C.B. DeMille
Set up for this HUGE crowd scene.
Hundreds of thousands of extras.
Cost zillions of bucks to stage it.
It's a one-shot or way over budget and in big trouble with the front office.

"LIGHTS...CAMERA...ACTION!"

10 minutes later DeMille calls the cameraman on walkie talkie.
"Get that, Bernie?"
"Ready when you are, C.B."

6. I worked TV news
for years on both sides of the camera and have some experience with editing. I catch a lot of bad edits on TV shows and movies. Drives my wife nuts when I shout out "Bad Edit."

21. Speaking of C.B. DeMille
I work with a cinematographer who purchased, on the outdoor back lot of one of the equipment rental houses in Hollywood, an old pan/tilt hand crank camera platform. The purchase was for the purpose of converting it to a stepper-motor controlled pan/tilt.

Getting back to the hotel, and looking closer at his find, he saw a small stamping: "CB DeMille.

I was a little heartsick when he went ahead and had me tear it apart and machine parts of it to accept motors.

7. I hear you about the 747...
One of my friends said they flew on one of the type's first commerical flights from Detroit to
(somewheres) and it was around 1970. They were flying them domestic trying to build up miles for
their Extended Overwater Certification... (whatever that's called?)

9. I saw one the other night.
I was watching "Demolition Man" (don't ask me why) on TBS or something, and Stallone fired his double barrel shotgun 3 (yes, three) times. After the third shot, the gun was spent, and he removed the 2 (yes, two) shell casings.

I was like...wtf?

Roy and Hoppy NEVER ran out.

18. I always wondered why, in the movies
When you see a double-barrelled shotgun getting ready to be fired, but you get to hear the slide of a pump shotgun getting racked?

The only sound you should hear with a double-barrel is click boom, click boom.

19. Even better shotgun faux pas
The ole one handed pump, and subsequent single hand pistol grip shot. I have a Mossberg 500 with a pistol grip...no chance on either of those.

22. I can rack my Mossberg one-handed, but it usually takes several,
progressively more vigorous attempts. Never tried to fire it one-handed, however (probably need to drink a bit more before that seems like a good idea)... :)

23. Exactly.
I have the pistol grip on the rack too, and it still takes me 3, 4 tries. As for the one handed shot, I think the kick would end my ability to type for a while.

11. One of these scenes I've really been in.
The interior shots of Henry's tarted up house with the hidden bar, etc.

Back when I spent a lot of time between flights at LaGuardia I hung out at a little bar next to my flea bag motel.
Got to be friends with a couple of the 'fellas'.
In fact, the bar looked a lot like the one they burned down earlier in the movie.

Anyway, once in a while one of these fellas would invite me to his home for a 'good home cooked meal'.
I guess they felt sorry for the gypsy life I was leading then and besides, they thought pilots were cool.

I've never seen so much red velvet, flocked wallpaper, and elaborate bar gadgets in my life.

They were nice to me and we never talked about what they did for a living.
Maybe that was just a 'given'?
;-)

12. Just remembered, the motel was the King's Inn.

It was common knowledge that it was owned by one of the 'families' and funny enough, you felt pretty safe there.
It was a legit money laundering operation and they didn't tolerate no 'undesirables' or 'funny stuff'.

Although I do think there were a couple of hookers in residence.
Just observation.
NOT personal experience.

13. Another fun thing to do if you have acess to a projector and "flat*" films.
A lot of stuff is on the film that gets cropped by the aperture plate and lens. You can adjust the framing to show all of the mics and lighting stuff you can't normally see with a properly framed film. It won't work with CinemaScope films.

*By flat I mean 1.85:1.

Factual error: In one scene we are introduced to Idlewild Airport in 1963. We're shown a couple of aircraft in flight and one of the aircraft is a Boeing 747 in the livery of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The Boeing 747 didn't enter commercial service until 1969.

20. My favorite goof:
In The Godfather, Sonny beats up Carlo in the street. One of Sonny's punches misses Carlo by a mile, but Carlo still goes down.
