Saw I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry yesterday

What a hilarious movie.

Jeez.

I heard some gay rights groups were complaining about it but the movie actually has a pretty gay friendly theme to it. Homophobes are made to look like idiots and straight people sticking up for gay people are lauded. I laughed my ass off throughout the whole thing and I think everyone here should consider seeing it.

I know that Sandler may be a Republican-kinda guy but he's certainly gay-friendly to make a movie like this.

But here's the ingenuous part. There's a second movie hiding in there but you can only see it if you wear your special gay decoder glasses.

There is the hilarious movie in which Adam Sandler plays a total sexist pig who agrees to pretend to be gay to help out his friend who needs pension benefits. That film uses words like "butt pirate" to great comic effect.

Then there is the film you can see only with the special glasses. In this one, the premise is the same but the sexist pig is changed by the experience. He reaches a greater understanding of issues facing the gay community as well as a greater understanding of what it really means to be in a relationship. In this version of the film, there are sweet and preachy moments and you must ignore the use of words like "butt pirate." "

PLUS, I saw Adam Sandler being interviewed about the movie on some show and he said that one of the reasons he made it is to counter the "homophobia in this country". So don't hate on him too much.

Please say it isn't so. That just doesn't make any sense. He seems so sensitive, loyal to his friends, and kind of nice. I hate when that happens. And then he buys into that bankrupt ideology?

his only political contribution to date. I don't think he's that conservative at all,but you know how he always talks about Giuliani in his movies etc? I think he's a huge Giuliani fan more than being a huge fan of Republicans.

But when you hear him talk, he sounds more like a Democrat. If he's a Republican, he's certainly on the liberal end of being one. Plus he's Jewish. 80% of Jews are Democrats.

Anyway back to talking about the movie. It has some gay jokes in it but the overall message is tolerance and gay-friendliness. I guess he could be a Republican and feel that way. I mean Giuliani shacked up with that gay friend of his and that guy's partner, right? It's not like all Republicans hate gays and love fetuses. Just the religious ones, which is a big percentage.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to at first, but a friend of mine just loves Adam Sandler so we went. You are right on with every point. It's an excellent movie, very moving at times and it's a riot.
