Old scams before the Nigerian Dr./ Internet scams

There was one I used to see frequently in various magazines called the "Million dollar idea for one dollar". You were instructed to send one dollar and a self addressed, stamped envelope to the address listed, typically a P.O. box. A few weeks later you would get your reply with the one million dollar idea. The idea was that you post a classified ad in several magazines or newspapers and title it, "Million dollar idea for one dollar". Soon you would receive tens of thousands of replies and eventually make an easy million in a few months.

That one was a classic and you can still count on greed and instant gratification if you are a scammer.
