long ago and stayed out of the public eye. Instead he's like a leacherous grandpa who thinks he's a ladies man, but just ends up looking ridiculous. Smoking jacket, urbane Hef of the 1950's/60's wouldn't know what to make of the old geezer in the yachting cap.

He was keeping a revolving harem when I was working at Playboy.com in the late 90s. He came breezing through the corporate offices with his then girlfriends, Mandy, Sandy, Brande and Jessica. All were blondes, three had names that rhymed, and Mandy and Sandy were twins. You can't make this up.

I found it...sociologically fascinating.

I grew up sneaking peeks at playboy magazine.
I never cared much for the Hustler type magazines.
The lady's that you describe and(I am not disputing your description) always looked so beautiful in the pictures
I know the pictures in the magazines are altered and cleaned out the ass but i would be a liar if i said i didn't enjoy viewing them.

There's airbrushing, and then there's AIRBRUSHING.

Playboy does what I'd call "light airbrushing"--a mole here, a wrinkle there. But they don't change their overall appearance. The models do in fact look like themselves--I've met lots of them, and they're beautiful IRL.

Then there's the airbrushing like I've seen on a few photographers' websites (where they have before-and-after examples), where breasts are enlarged, curves added, faces changed. Scary.

who can remove peeling sunburns and obtrusive Caesarian scars from archival photos. Amazing.

And if I were running the magazine, I would want to remove peeling sunburns and C-section scars from the photos too.

But many assume "oh, no one looks like that/has a body like that, those photos are fake", when in fact they really do look like that and have that body.

Those people should look at at the Playboy models at fobpro.com (clothed, relatively safe for work). John Chennavasin isn't airbrushing his photos--he doesn't have time, and simply doesn't need to.

The 70s was the heyday of the natural Playmate. Candy Loving, the 25th anniversary Playmate (and yes that is really her name) was quite naturally beautiful.

I'm a girl and I sneaked peeks at Playboy too. Nuthin' wrong with admiring God's handiwork.

An old guy with big bucks has got multiple young girlfriends -- a sort of harem. So what? They're all adults in a consensual arrangement. It doesn't bother me, hell I'd do the same in his position, if I wasn't able to find some ultimate, all encompassing, cosmic soulmate.

But as far as taste goes, I'm not particularly attracted to bleached blonds and breast implants -- or tattoos and body piercings either for that matter, though I don't know if that applies to his girls.

Well Girls Next Door is one of my favorite shows. Hugh Hefner is such a complicated man...sure he likes his blondes, but I do find it interesting that Playboy has had very important interviews from the likes of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Jimmy Carter, etc. They do enjoy good literature, there articles ARE actually GOOD! I think a lot of the girls he takes in are resorting to stripping and dont have a very good life. Like I read Kendra was stripping and had run away from home when Hugh Hefner took her in. There's a quote from the late 50's/early 60's where he says something about 'anyone who has a valid key is to be admitted to the clubs--no matter what stupidity some of our customers may choose to expound'-he was referring to problems Playboy was having intergrating their clubs in the South. That is somewhat groundbreaking given the time. They had a black Playboy playmate back in the early 1960s and didnt even make a reference to her being black, and were hiring black bunnies back then too, which I thought was groundbreaking as well.

When he had the show "Playboy' Penthouse" in 1959, and then Playboy After Dark in the late 60's, he had on African American comics and musicians, some that were not getting airplay ANYWHERE else on the networks. He had on the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Dick Gregory, Moms Mabley, and many others. Hefner has long been an advocate for womens rights and comes down firmly on the pro-choice side of things regarding abortion.

Regardless of how you feel about the magazine, the man, his relationships or this current show, Hugh Hefner's progressive and liberal credentials are most certainly not questionable.

His biological attraction to multiple 18 year old nubile females is understandable, but it just seems kind of an empty pursuit of hedonistic pleasure as if that's the end-all and be-all of male-female relationships.

3)Husband and I won a set of DVDs of Hefner's tv show from the 50s through the early 70s. On it he had so many celebrities of the day. I remember one episode where he was on the couch, having a long convo about the race problem and how he thought it was wrong. This had to be 58 or 59..I'll have to go look.
Got my respect then and there.

In 2004 Kendra Wilkinson (also blonde, aged 18) was asked to move into the Mansion to become girlfriend number 3. The 2005-06 E! reality television series The Girls Next Door follows these three girlfriends, Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson in their life with Hef around the Mansion and on travel.

And frankly anyone who wants to spend time with Kendra is a little creepy anyway!

I lost my father when I was a kid (although he was only in his 40s) and it was very traumatic for me. Just because Hefner is still spitting out sperm doesn't mean he should be popping out more kids
