26 Glacier Cruise/Prince William Sound - new SmugMug Album
I posted some pictures here a few nights ago from the 135-mile, 4-1/2 hour glacier cruise that my husband and I went on last Wednesday. I've finally had a chance to go through all my photos and narrow them down to 54 which I've posted here http://northernvisions.smugmug.com/gallery/3300313#P-1-9 if you want to check them out.

Enjoy the glaciers before they're gone.

1. My dear Blue!
Oh, WOW!

These are just magnificent!

You have done an incredible job...

The waterfall with the birds flying took my breath away...

And the sea lions are incredible too...

It truly breaks my heart to see how we are destroying this magnificent home planet of ours...

Thank you so much for sharing these...

:woohoo:

2. Gorgeous scenery, Blue In AK
I'm no expert, but even I can tell they are receding. Beautiful blue ice. That sea lion looks as curious about you as you are if it? Glad you had nice weather.

3. Our guide pointed out that one of the glaciers
(I forget which one) has receded a mile in the last 100 years. You'll notice that the one in this picture is no longer reaching all the way into the water, a development that is new just this year. This means that instead of seeing 17 tidewater glaciers on this trip, future visitors will only see 16.

As I was taking all these photos, I couldn't help but think that I was preserving scenes that following generations may not see. It's really quite sad.

5. Thanks, SoCal
You wouldn't believe how many birds were flying around this one spot. I guess they really loved it, too. :)

6. Thanks so much for posting. We only had time to see the Portage glacier on our trip.
Your photography is sensational... and those seals and otters! Beautiful!

Wish there were more we could do to preserve this wilderness.

7. Oh, they'll be back.
When enough fresh water enters the North Atlantic and disrupts the Gulf Stream, they'll be back with a vengeance.

8. I know - it's just going to take a little time. :-)
That's the part of the global warming model that most people forget about.
