my Dad died

He was ill, but we thought he was getting better. The doctors thought so too. They said he'd be well enough to come home in a day or two. And then everything failed all at once, and that was it.

The treatments just stopped working somehow. I squeezed his hand in his last hours and begged Whoever Listens To Our Thoughts to please give him my strength, and to please take me instead. Because he had so many plans, things that he still wanted to do. That didn't work either.


Supposedly, I can go on with my life now, but I don't care.



I'm crushed.

... there is nothing tougher.

My father died on June 15, 2004 and I'm glad I got to tell him I loved him before he died. He also got to speak to my new girlfriend at the time.

It will take a long awhile for you to heal.

I'm sorry to see that your father died.

My grandmother was perfectly fine. She started to get sick. The doctor diagnosed her with the flu and did not run any tests. A week later, she was gone. Turns out she had a gall bladder that had gone necrotic.

It's so hard when it happens unexpectedly.

It is hard, very hard. I am glad you were there, though it is nothing we ever wish to do or a place we wish to be. It is hard, very hard. It gets easier, but rarely goes away. I found I got past my parent dying, but never over it. Peace to you and yours.

didn't get to realize all of his ambitions, and I empathize with the pain of your loss.

Your words have strengthened me and helped me achieve enough composure to help with all those necessary things -- writing Dad's obituary, notifying relatives and friends, and of course getting his affairs in order (though actually, he seems to have done most of that last himself while alive -- he clearly put a LOT of thought into how his family would manage without him). I know I'll fall apart again later, but for now I've got the strength to do right by my Dad.

He was a good man.

has happened to you, I lost my Step Dad last summer he was mowing the lawn and had chest pains, Mom took him to the hospital and they released him, he died later on the couch his was just 60. I was his favorite step kid he called me Kimoson (my name is Kim) now I'm crying even more for you, it hurts but it will get better.:hug:

I just don't know what else to say. :(

I lost my Dad 7 years ago and it still hurts.
