Anyone playing any MMORPGs?
I just reactivated my old Shadowbane account.

Been playing Star Wars Galaxies for since retail, but it is getting old. Terrible pvp, so far anyway.

Anyway, let me know if anyone is on either one, maybe we can hook up sometime.

Oh, haven't even logged into SB yet, but and playing on the Naritus server in Galaxies (Rebel of course :)).

Thanks

1. I've been playing Galaxies. :)

I like it, though I'm taking a little hiatus right now. I'll come back in a patch or two. They're removing the PvP decay penalty apparently, and revamping alot of the combat.

I'm on Bria and Ahazi, by the way.

I also played Anarchy Online. That's a very good MMORPG. Lots of stuff to do, and the world design is fantastic.

Hmm... played Shadowbane for a day. I just couldn't stand the point and click movement and the over-the-head camera.

Dark Age of Camelot... played that for about 6 months. Fun. :) But jeez, I got so fed up with travelling. It takes so long.

2. A gamer! woot
I played Anarchy as well. Been a long time though. Had a 186 Doc named Jigy.

Anyway if you ever think about stopping in on Naritus let me know. We have a city, and I run a rebel guild of about 70 so far.

The only reason I reactivated SB was the exceptional pvp action.

If they can ever get the GCW right in Galaxies, I will most likely stay put for quite awhile.

Heard anything about them changing the game to basicaly overt status full time for everyone?

That will be a trip.

5. Did you ever see my AO comic? :)
I did one for AO? It's dumb, but so what. :P Funcom stuck ads for it in their game launcher- that was pretty neat. :)

I've heard about SB's PvP- that it's good I mean. I just couldn't get past the interface.

Galaxies' next patch actually looks pretty cool. They're supposed to be setting up so that you can get demoted or fined for carrying contraband goods like drugs or modified weapons. Sounds cool. :D

7. I have seen it before.

Very cool to have met the artist. :)

Anyway I agree about the interface. But in its heyday there was nothing better.

Open pvp everywhere all the time.

I spent entire days holed up in enemy cites taking them down one building at a time.

As for Galaxies next patch no I haven't heard.

Boy am I going to get slammed. Everything I own is sliced (illegaly modified), and I virtualy live on spice. ;)

Did you hear they are changing Force Sensitive character slots to a quest?

All that after I spent months grinding Master Bounty Hunter, and dropped it for Merchant. Stupid holocrons.

lol

4. I won't pay for online games.
There's no excuse- none- for not having a setup like Diablo or Quake2 or Quake3. It's just silly. I bought the game, but I can't play it unless I give tham MORE money, EVERY MONTH?

Sure, whatever. I'll just save my cash and buy games I DON'T have to pay to play.

This is the only reason I don't play Everquest, for example. I've never payed for an online game, and I never will.

8. Some feel that way, sure.

I played the hell out of Diablo2. Digital crack. How true.

But I also remeber the lag, the hacking, and almost total lack of support in the game.

Now I only play pay for play games except for FPS.

Not many 12 year olds have credit cards. hehe j/k

Seriously pay for play really is worth it.

They are constantly adding major content, and the worlds are just so deep. SWG is not the same game it was even a month ago. I love that.

But hey, to each their own.

9. I agree 100%
Big time gamer here, but paying over and over? I dont think so.And that's not a knock at the quality of the games, which I'm sure are a blast.

6. FFXI is well done. I played it for about a week before
I just sort of gave up. Most of the server was Japanese and I couldn't communicate with anyone. I'm sure there must be a good sized American audience by now, though.

The graphics are pretty good (though the textures almost look like they're 8-bit). The cities are amazing, and man- the quest system they've got is simply the best ever. It actually goes into short cut-scenes when you speak to quest characters and such. Almost feels like a platform game during those scenes. In a good way, I mean.

10. not sure if it counts as a MMORPG
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 07:33 AM by KG
but i fly an online only WWII combat flight sim, AcesHigh.

the o/l community, gameplay, and support make it, i think, the best o/l gaming experience out there and worth every penny of the rather reasonable 14.95 per month.
