I'm selling my old diesel Mercedes--is it weird that I get sad at these things?
I just listed my old diesel on Ebay. I haven't driven the car in six months, and never got to use it for what I bought it for--making biodiesel. I was never that attached to it. Now I'm sad that I'm selling it. Weird, eh?

2. Maybe that's it.
Another unfulfilled plan, another piece of me lost.

Meh. I've got bigger things to worry about. :)

3. You wouldn't happen to be anywhere near Northern CA would you?
I've been thinking about purchasing a diesel for a while now.

6. Austin, TX.
I bought a Prius from someone in Connecticut, and a van from Fort Lauderdale, off EBay. Fun road trips.

4. My girlfriend traded in her car recently
And I started kidding her about how her car must be wondering what it did wrong and why mama was leaving it with the strange men. All of a sudden we were both choked up over leaving this POS car at the dealer's.

Weird how we ascribe human feelings to some objects.

9. I hate those!
No offense, but being behind diesel Mercedes is one of my least favourite activities. Now you'll get fewer dirty looks from people for sure. :toast:

11. Hey!
Mine runs very clean, thank you very much! The ones that smoke need new glow plugs.

I rarely got dirty looks, except when I had to pull into a lane of traffic and the poor beast would take over a minute to get up to speed! And on cold mornings, because diesels do smoke until they've warmed up. But those mornings I never saw dirtylooks--the cloud of smoke obscured them!

And when I could find biodiesel, the car smelled gently of sweet fried foods. Which was nice, but it created the oddest craving in me for barbequed chicken--which is doubly odd, since I'm a vegetarian, and since I never really liked chicken even when I ate meat.

10. If I had the money, I'd buy it.
Good luck in selling it. :)

12. Thanks. The bidding is going along nicely.
Should know by tomorrow afternoon whether my reserve will be met.

I forgot, you've probably seen the car, haven't you? If you remember it.

13. I think I've seen pictures.
There are getting to be more biodiesel retailers out there, which is nice.

14. Yes, I'm considering getting another diesel at some point. I like the idea
But this car is just too much work for me, now that I'm in an apartment. And broke. Nothing major, but it's 25 years old, so things break or need updating frequently, and I don't have a garage or tools handy. Plus, I take a lot of long trips to see my parents in Mississippi, and I'm afraid to drive it that far. At some more settled point in my life, I'd probably keep it as a second car, but it's just not working out now.

15. I want to get an old truck to have around to haul stuff and play with.
If I could get one of those VW diesel trucks I'd do it. I wouldn't need to count on it as a daily driver, and on those occasions that I need a truck, it would be an efficient way to go. I have a spot for it in the driveway for now. Having a second vehicle in an apartment isn't good at all.

16. Worse...
It's not even at the apartment, it's at the ex's house! Then again, so are the kids.

I've got the truck thing settled. One of the fringe benefits of working for a tire company is that we have a lot of trucks I can borrow, from a Ranger to F-350s.

17. Nissan also made diesel trucks back in the 80s, too.
I forgot about them.

I can borrow my dad's truck, but it's in San Antonio and I'm responsible for gas. Cheaper than renting, I guess, but not convenient. I do tend to ask to borrow it while my folks are on vacation and I'm house-sitting. As long as I'm making the trip...
